After recently watching a DVD that Don Mottin where he suggested using red plastic business cards I thought that was a great idea. However, I'm having problems finding somewhere that sales them. Have any of you come across somewhere online that does.

Also I need to get some good brochures made up as the one's I've been using are self-made and are ok for the local grocery store etc but I'd like to get more professional ones done to place in the professional type buildings. Do any of you have a company you deal with online that you find are good in price and product?

I am just starting out so do not have a very big budget since I have only had a handful of paying clients so far.

Thank you

Google "red plastic business cards" without the quotes. Below is just one place I found. I like the smoke ones, myself, but red is definitely catchy.

Take a look at Vista Print (vistaprint.com).
@Susan - Normally I use Vista Print but I really wanted to send out a brochure that was self-mailing and I couldn't find any on there unless I'm just missing them.

@Sebastian - Thank you I appreciate the link
I just looked on there again and yes I see now there are tons of brochures. Now I have to narrow it down to one style I like.

Thank you Susan and Richard
These guys are good. They send out sample cards so you can see, feel the quality of card, they have many different colours. The first set will be the most expensive because of the plates but to be honest they are very reasonable. Good luck
Der sorry forgot to leave the link www.premierplasticcards.co.uk
Well the idea behind the plastic cards and I got this idea from Don Mottin was 3 fold

1) If you are old and forgetful like some of us when they go through the wash they will come out ok (grin) but the next two are the real reasons

2) If you give someone a plastic card they can't use them for scrap paper when they are searching through their purse or wallet to write a number on.

3) He actually uses them with his smoking people and what he has is he tells them to put them in the pocket where they use to hold their cigarettes so normally that would be a breast pocket of a shirt for men and purse for women. Then whenever they reach for that packet the color of it reinforces the suggestions that he gave them as he uses the color red in the session as in "when you see the color red you will know that you are happy you are now a non-smoker" but of course the other plus to this is that a red card will catch peoples attention and they will ask perhaps what it is.
Of course this can be used for anything because its the same for weight etc, you have them use the card for a visual reminder.

Being that they are so expensive though he does suggest that you get "normal" cards printed out and only give the plastic ones to clients you have worked with as well as giving them some "normal" cards to pass out. Thus keeping down the expense.
Bonnie:

I would worry less about having clear red plastic business cards at this stage of your business. You could write appointment date and time on your cards with a red pen and still be using the Mottin red suggestion.
The Colour red is everywhere in a stop sign, stoplight, brake light on a car. My suggestion would be to take any extra monies and put them in phone book listings and establishing an Internet presents, continuing education books or weekend clinics.
As mundane as it seems a business plan with an advertising budget will help you far more than expensive business cards.

At this point I would think that you would want to hand someone a stack of business cards and not think about the cost. My first cards were professional but no costly and I gave them out freely.

I believe that Don Mottin uses a local print shop in MO. The more networking that you do with local businesses the more opportunity there is for them to refer business your way.

Bonnie, there are a number of folks in this industry that will sell you a business start-up package with an “insert name here” formatted tri-folds for not a lot of money.

I hope that you find my input helpful. Everyone on this forum was at the same point in his or her business that you are experiencing presently.

Hi Bonnie...
Try VistaPrint... They have good quality and you can design your own card online.
I use a silk laminate business card. They are a different texture than other cards and are not much more expensive than traditional cards. I get compliments on them all the time. I like to keep my price per business card around 4-8 cents each.

If you use vista prints make sure you do not ever get the free ones. Your business card is a representation of your business, and I don't want people to look at my business card and see that they are free. The association is, "this card saves costs and cuts corners by being cheap and generic." Is that what you want people to think about your practice?

just my opinion.
