I would love some constructive advice on my webpage. Do you find it professional enough that people would want to come see me. Do I word it correctly. Is it easy to navigate. All of these types of things and any comments would be very welcomed. My webpage can be found at www.milehighhypnotherapy.com

Read your sentences out loud. No, I'm not kidding. Really read them. Don't just skim, thinking you've got everything right. Do they sound right to you?
Take out the text at the bottom that says "default footer text"
Second page:
"...yet not truly remember the entire ride or how often do we find ourselves in the shower ..." needs a break in there somewhere. Like a comma after "ride".
"Hypnosis is just that allowing our subconscious..." just that -
Shorten your pages. Perhaps put the FAQ on its own page. Personally, if I have to hit the scroll wheel more than three times, I'm bored and move on, usually out of the site.
I'll look at the other pages later, and give more feedback. But you get the idea.
It adds nothing to your sales process, Google doesn't like flash pages so you get no SEO value, and bluntly it looks like the splash page for a video game.
Also, even on the main page for your website, I have no idea what to do?
IF I think as a prospect, I have these questions:
* Why am I on your site?
This is not at all obvious. Am I there because I need help with IBS? Smoking? Weight Loss? Nail Biting? To Improve my Test Scores? To learn Hypnosis? To learn self Hypnosis?
* What should I do if I want more information?
* What should I do if I want to pay you money to help me?
* What if I'm just doing research, but I might want to do business with you later... How will you stay in touch with me?
Key Point: I don't have any idea what the purpose of your website is as part of your marketing funnel.
One of the key functions of a website is to build a list of targeted prospects for follow up. As I taught at the NGH, communication is key for building a relationship and building trust with prospects.
If you don't have a steady stream of leads... you don't have a business.
If you don't get contact information... you don't have a lead.
Bonnie - I agree with the comments that you have already received and I'd change the pictures - I don't understand what value the signage out fron or your certificates add to why I want to come see you. I would encourage you to get artciles, blog posts, videos that tell about you - not your office.
I agree with the other respondents about ditching the flash intro and simplifying some of the explanations regarding your services, what hypnosis is, etc. Especially on the homepage, there needs to be a clear and simple message about the benefits of what you do.
Another easily corrected situation is that the site does not have much about your identity. You need to think about becoming a "brand" of sorts because prospective clients have to be sold on the idea of coming to you specifically. And as we all know, much of the public still has fear and apprehension about going to a hypnotist, so branding goes hand in hand with trust-building. A person taking a quick look at your site has no idea who is going to be providing the service. Your name and your picture need to be on the homepage.
Always think about your website as a work in progress that you will continually update and improve upon. Lastly, when you have worked out some of the more important issues, consider creating some incentive for visitors to sign up for something at your site like a newsletter, free report, etc. This way you can develop an ongoing relationship with people who might not be ready to come in at the present moment. Take a look at the newsletter signup on my homepage when you get a chance for an example. http://www.njhypno.com Best of Luck to You! Jim
The reason I put the signage picture up there was for two reasons, one so people would recognize the building and therefore know how to find it easier, two so they would know I'm just not working out of my living room in my home. That I do actually have a professional office in a professional building.
The reasons for the certificate pictures were so that people would know that I am actually certified, that I didn't just read some books as those few clients that I have had and those that called did seem to want to know this.
As for articles about me. Being brand new to this there aren't any.
But thank you for the input I'll definitely be rethinking things.
Thank you so much. I know my biggest downfall is my grammar and not knowing where to "shut up" as it were. I am the type that I don't want just a little bit explained to me if you are going to explain something and so I have problems limiting things when I am trying to explain to others.
I do have a newsletter I started last month so I'll most certainly be making sure I put that on the front page as you suggest. As for my picture I guess that is a "issue" I have as I have never liked having my picture taken and yes I do know the reason, let's say buck teeth when I was younger and being 60lbs overweight now (grin) I'm working on the issues but knowing is the key right (grin).
As for for my identity. I guess the problem is I'm still not sure what that is. I mean I know I am a hypnotist but I'm still trying to figure out in what area I want to specialize although I'm leaning toward PLR and Stress. Then the question is by identity do you mean such as married 25 years, all of those years spend traveling around the world with my husband who is now retired Air Force, 2 grown children, worked with Special Needs children for 3 years and office work before that. I mean how much "me" needs to go in there and how much is too much "me" because that is me. A me in the sense of hypnosis/hypnotherapy has not been started yet, it's just getting started?
From what you have described, your life experience gives you a good perspective on the stresses of being a mom and balancing work and other responsibilities, the stresses of being in a military family (very timely with the Iraq/Afghan conflict going on), finding a new direction after the kids have grown, working in the educational field, etc.
It would help if you could create a few composite images of the sort of people who would most benefit from seeing you. And describe how your hypnosis training and life experience puts you in a good position to help them.
So it seems I will be doing some major revamping of my webpage over the next couple of weeks but that's good as I wasn't happy with it the way it was any how but had no idea what direction I needed to go. Now thanks to all of you wonderful people out there I have some more definite ideas.
