I am currently an RN practicing in the state of Michigan. I make approximately $60 grand a year, barring overtime and shift differential. I know it's a personal financial thing, but honestly, I'm wondering if I could at least match my income if I choose to go into hypnotherapy? I am sincerely interested and I feel like I have helped patients inadvertently, doing "hand-on" healing - which I now consider is a form of hypnotherapy? I love to help people and my job as RN is very rewarding. What is everyone's take on this? I am not interested in making money with out TRUELY assisting folks? Honestly, I'm getting very tired of working so many weekends and holidays. If anyone could assist with hospice care sort of issues, I would be so gratefull (sp?) thanks so much and God bless you all in your personal and professional practices.

My experience is very different than yours. Doctors protect their turf and patients until you earn their respect. Other licensed care providers have already jumped through similar hoops and therefore have a head start on us, but that doesn't mean we can't foster a beneficial relationship with them. Once you have a mutual respect then you can be part of their team.

People, in my experience, aren't as petty as you described. In fact, I had a doctor call me just last week asking me to bring business cards to her office because she wants to start referring patients to me. I had never heard of her before or attempted to make any contact with her for any reason. She heard of me and decided to help her patients. One of my pain control clients this week asked for a stack of my cards because her neurologist requested them. These people took an oath to do the best they could for their clients, and once they recognize that you can do good, many are extremely receptive.

And remember, Shanti is already "of them" as you put it. She has been working with them for some time now as an RN. If she can demonstrate the hypnotic skills, and they know that she understands the ethics/code of conduct/ins and outs of the hospital/etc. they may be more than receptive to her pressence, they may even be (like the staff at the dental offices where I work) be excited about what I can do for them and their patients.

It's really not as mean or scary out there as you described. Honest.

I have actually already discussed being a part of a couple of M.D. friends' of mine practice and they have both already agreed if I choose to persue hypnotherapy.

They are a husband/wife group and do a lot of weight loss and smoking cessation therapies in their office. From what I understand so far, they think that hypnosis works only "short term" to help clients with smoking and/or weight loss and pain control, yet both still agree I could begin practicing with them if I choose to become certified. The husband is a very close friend of myself and my family, I've known him for several years, as well as his whole office staff, who I also trust and like very much.

I think that if they see results, they will also endorse me to many other local medical offices I could get referrals from. A very good network contact, to be sure - not to mention the $$$ saved being able to begin working out of someone else's office, I'm sure will be much less expense of starting out soley on my own, not to mention professional referrals right out of the box. I feel very fortunate for the opportunity, not to mention it will be enjoyable to be working with supportive friends in improving the health of their proven, steady clients.

There is also the possibility of working with some of my husband's business contacts, who are in the medical and dental fields, who include health/dental health care providers for all of the local sports teams, as well as major local entertainment venues...... really, I feel like my opportunities stretch way out there for miles and miles at this point. We shall see (as mom used to say).

It's only going to be as "scary" as I choose to make it for myself. Been there, done that already in this life - which makes it much less threatening to have "lived" through fear and survived and even prospered after taking a few risks here and there. I am sure there are separate certifications I can obtain that will legitimize ANY part of this career that I choose to persue... I don't back down very easily and will not be afraid to come under ANYONE'S scrutiny in the medical (or any other) profession, as long as my training is good/exceptional and I feel confident in my own talents. If I feel like I don't measure up to standard (and hopefully exceed!), I will not continue in the field (medically anyway), should I choose to study. That is honestly still up in the air, but the possibilities are there and the idea is still exciting to me.

To be totally honest and open, sometimes I feel tired of taking those risks and laying my heart and MONEY (lol!) on the line. Will I be able to do this? Will I have a talent for it? Can I possibley match/exceed my present income doing this??? Lots of "maybe's", you know?

I'd love to be able to help out especially KIDS with their anxieties with medicine. I was just talking to my oldest daughter last night. She is currently studying to become a registered nurse in Michigan, wants to work with pediatric critical care and/or childhood cancer patients here in the Detroit area, in particular Detroit Medical Center's Children's Hospital.

I have to hand it to her, I could NOT and would not WANT that job. I'm so proud of her though, for her caring and dedication, she has a long row to hoe there. With hypnotherapy, I feel like I could also really be helping this same population (pediatrics) without having to poke, prod or otherwise cause ANY discomfort to them - God bless 'em! - lol! As an RN, the possibilities for truely being able to assist patients with pain and fear OUTSIDE of pharmacologics is exciting and feels very hopeful and happy to me. Does that sound a bit too saccharine? (Don't care - lol!). Feels right, I'm hoping I can help is all.

I feel so totally open to whatever fate throws my way in this. I am so thankful for everyone's contributions to this thread and I very much value everyone's expertise and very valid opinions and ideas - thanks so much for contributing.

Thank you so much Conrad!

You're right, I am already fulfilled, as a being who can bring hope and help to folks - how could I fail? I don't think I can. I do believe that what people call the heart is the center of all of this.

You can read my above post in regards to market stratigies. I am very blessed in that I have wonderful and strong network connections politically and in business locally (as well as nationally and internationally in Europe and South America, both politically and trade-wise, including 5 national major sports teams), could be more than the average new hypnotherapy "grad", simply due to my husband's contacts and profession.

I'm not looking to make a billion dollars though, I just want to get out from under having to work so many weekends, nights and HOLIDAYS without having to sacrifice a nice home and a few of the luxuries for me and my family. For myself, I'd like to be able to set my own hours and charge my own fees and be able to afford to be self-insured. I'm already happy with my car and house. I'd like to be able to assist my kids (3) with college &/or tech school expenses, just to have them be able to spread their own wings and fly solo.eventually.

Thanks so much for your reply, Mr. Adams, I do appreciate it. I'll certainly privately email you for more info, I'm wide open and exploring all my opportunites right now.

Love and Light to you sir!

Wonderful! I guess that your experiences and Scott's are a bit different. Also, I live in the ASCH's home state, so things here may be a bit different as well, simply because of their heavier influence here.

My very best wishes to you on this and please keep the group posted as to how things are going!

I have been hypnotizing (more relaxing so far) a woman who told me a dentist story. She said when she was 19 yrs old, she went to a dentist in Mexico and had some wisdom teeth removed. She said all he did was hypnotize her, she remembers nothing else. She had no medicines of any kind.

Ive only been through one session with her but she has seen me hypnotize her coworker. My question is, since she had to have known how to go deep berfore, is it more likely she can achieve this again?

I want to succeed with some deep convincers pretty soon.

Thanks

Candin
not only is it likely, it is almost inevitable.

one way to make sure, is to have her re access the previous trance state.
Take her into a light state, and then ask her to go back and remember that time she was hypnotised, and as she remembers, she once again finds herself drifting down to the same level of hypnosis, as she achieved on that occasion... ask her to indicate with either an unconscious, or a conscious lifting of a finger to let you know when she has reached that level. then do some simple deepeners to take her even deeper.

Hope this is helpful.

Love and hugs,

Fable
