I recently had a question asking if hypnotherapy may be helpful for a teenager who is experiencing hearing loss. She was dropped as an infant, which resulted in a subdural hematoma. There may be some underlying brain tissue injury, however that cannot be confirmed at this time.

Would hypnotherapy be an option to explore? If so, can anyone offer suggestions as to how to treat this?

I appreciate your time and assistance.

http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/subdural+hematoma - there is a link that kind of explains what that is.

Okay i'm not a medical doctor, i only have my bachelors degree in nursing, but i'm hoping to give med school a try. But from what you have describe i do not know if the hearing can be helped w/ hypnosis. I've never heard of that i guess. Might i mention that i've had a hearing loss myself since 18 months of age. I was born three months premature and my lungs were underdeveloped and i was on a ventilator. I also had a stage three anyeurysm in my brain (at stage four ur dead), and soo due to all of this going on it damaged the nerves in my ears.

So i'm not sure whether or not the nerves in her ears can be repaired. Physiologically, i do not believe that the damage is reversible. Not saying that you still wouldn't be able to help her. You could work on acceptance and help her realized that there is NOTHING wrong w/ her at all. There is no such thing as a disability, she is the way she's supposed to be, the way God created her. (I went to a professional hypnotherapist myself, and thats one thing he helped me w/ was realizing that my hearing loss did not make me abnormal, and that i was perfectly fine the way i was) :)

Hope my opinion helped a little bit. Sorry it took so long for me to reply, i've been meaning to answer ur post, but just been busy.

Sincerely,
Stacey
