Coma. Imagine being trapped in your body but being unable to operate it. That stressful mind state means no outside communication, just being “stuck” inside. Caregivers sit helplessly by hoping their loved one will someday come out of that coma. What a horrible situation. But there’s actually some good news.
Caregivers can participate in some current hypnosis research benefiting those in coma. In the newly released
Reducing Stress In Your Comatose Loved One, caregivers audio record specially formatted and provided hypnosis scripts. I explain my personal experiences with some clients experiencing coma.
Once recorded, the caregivers play the scripts to those in coma. Then, charting responses, caregivers actually can see how to progress in a methodical way to help people in coma relax or communicate again with the outside world.
My current research indicates that the mind of many people in coma is stuck “open” in a hypnotic state. Though brain damage might be present, hypnosis works anyway in many cases. Combined with Jin Shin Jyutsu (see
www.jsjinc.com) a lot of stress reduction and body harmonizing can occur when these holistic health methods are used.
Very interestingly, when you suggest that the client can relax and inhale and exhale normally now, they hear and respond. Then, at the end of the very brief script, you add the suggestion, "Now let's set up a signal so I know you want to learn something new. When you smile as you hear this recording, I will know you are ready to hear something new." When the comatose client starts smiling in response to hearing the recorded script, you KNOW he or she actually hears you. It's an amazing thing to see because often the body relaxes and you can see it.
I am looking for other hypnotists who are working with coma clients. Please contact me so we can share ideas and information.
People in coma can greatly benefit from hearing gentle, soothing, hypnotic stress reduction suggestions. And they actually do respond. Starting with my first client (Jonathan), a ten-year-old boy revived 30 minutes after drowning, I’ve been doing ongoing brain dialog and brain fitness research since 1990.
With the first hypnotic script, Jonathan’s stress level markedly reduced within 48 hours. The institution staff and primary caregiver felt flabbergasted. (So did I because I was experimenting to see what might help.) They could physically see a huge change in Jonathan’s breathing. And his restlessness and unpredictable crying bouts greatly diminished as well.
Clients in coma, hearing specifically formatted hypnotic stress reduction suggestions, CAN successfully reduce their stress. And caregivers and surviving loved ones actually see the changes. But you've got to know how to use the brain's 4 languages to create proper scripting. Please see my Online Seminar Notes page at
www.yoursecretwishes.com to read a summarized version of the brains 4 languages.
As a certified hypnotist, brain dialog and brain fitness researcher, and Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner, I’d like to share some tips for caregivers helping those in coma. Tips to help those caregivers for people in coma can be read for
