Interesting Client Speaks In Unknown Ancient Language

I have a new client coming in next week who has a very interesting situation she wants to work on. I have my own thoughts about what approach to take but thought I would throw it out for thoughts and discussion.

Her husband has been telling her for about 2 years that she has been talking in her sleep in what sounds like an ancient language. He recorded her one night and neither of them can understand the language. She took the recording to her MD who said it was probably "gibberish" brought on by her antidepressant. During the past 2 months she has started to speak in the same language while awake - usually when she is very tired or upset. She has no control over when or if it happens. The last time she was using a child's voice and the child seemed to be very upset.
She wants to "get this under control" before she does this in front of the el ed school children she works with. She has found out that this happens to her sister too.

Any thoughts? Sue Hull

Hi Sue, In a hypnotic state, in a safe place, I would invite the "part of her who speaks the ancient language" to come forward along with the part of her mind that can translate what is being said. After much thanks and appreciation, I would find out what that part's job is or what that part is trying to do for her. From there it should unfold. That part may need to be informed that there are appropriate times to be heard. Often times that part can be given a new job which is safe and more helpful. If you would like to talk more about it, please feel free to contact me. Laurie Miller
Just out of curiosity I would record the voice again in a session or two and see if the sounds match up. Does she still have the original recording? If it does, I would send them to someone who knows something about actual language rather than an MD. If it's a real language, how did she hear it? Because her sister does it too, that lends itself to the possibility of some sort environmental influence.

I'm interested to hear more about this. Please keep us posted.

I had a client who spoke in a language he did not consciously know when he was in a deep state of hypnosis, upon emerging he stated it felt like he was praying. The Pentecostal branch of Christianity views this "speaking in tongues" as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Other spiritual traditions may take this as evidence of a past life experience. If her sister is showing the same phenomena, it may be as Scott suggested, some kind of soft environmental issue (perhaps something they learned in childhood). My personal approach would be along the lines of what Laurie suggested, but I think Scott has a good point... get the tapes checked out by a linguist, not an MD. Everyone has their own gifts and talents and those two are not generally compatible :) Linda
'Speaking in Tounges' has happened throughout all of human history, granted a great deal of it has been described as unintelligible and any meaning gotten from it has been hazy at best. Its not really Synthesia as some might think it might be, as thats transposition of senses, but more simply sounds that do not form into specific words in a particular language (perhaps a language that is simply unknown). I would agree with Ms. Miller in finding if there are aspects of herself that can potentially translate. Perhaps its an inability to articulate something due to specific circumstances but needs to be expressed, and so its a 'safe' way to do so... the subconcious or unconcious mind (pick your terminology) tends to express what it needs to express, even if it has to do it unintelligibly.
Did you try with her a Past life regression I bet that is a imprint that is coming through....I had one not that bizarra but i tried a regression and it was corrected.....

hope this happens

First I want to say thanks to everyone who has responded to my question and then want to update you a bit.

This prospective client had elected to put her 1st appointment off until this Friday (17th). By last Friday she was finding it very difficult to speak in anything other than this other language! That evening she started speaking it so rapidly and with such emotion that she was having trouble breathing and decided to go to the emergency room! You can imagine what a can of worms THAT opened!!! Her husband tried to talk her out of it because he was "afraid they would commit her"! (He has been very supportive, by the way)

SO, the 1st thing they did was drug her up which slowed the voice down. Then they called in a neurologist who took an EEG and an MRI. By then a lot of people were standing around staring at her and her regular MD became so stressed himself, he left for dinner! He called in 2 speech therapists (?!?) who listened to her and tried to get her to write and speak in English - she tried but it was very difficult and she "didn't do very well".

Tuesday she finally called me to say she wanted to see me but didn't know if she should with everything else they were "doing to her". (she has a second set of drugs and more appointments set up with neurologists, speech pathologists and a psychologist) On the phone she was speaking to me in both languages but could understand me in English throughout. I suggested she lie down and take some long, slow, deep breaths as I spoke to her calmly and she was then able to speak to me mostly in English. I suggested we get together so she could learn more ways to calm herself without drugs which she had stated was her goal. She agreed to see me the next day (yesterday) and I tried to figure out if and who I should get a referral from. She had mentioned to the neurologist that she had made an appointment with a hypnotist and his only response was that he'd never seen or heard of anything like this. (We're in NEBRASKA here!)

SOOO, she came in yesterday and after a longer than usual intake and pretalk (during which she spoke only English) we started with a progressive relaxation. She was doing very well and I was able to suggest a couple ways to rapidly relax and deepen her relaxation on her own when all of a sudden a different voice began speaking very rapidly in another language (and I pushed the record button on my recorder!). She physically remained very calm and still while these words poured out of her mouth. After the voice was quiet, I addressed the part that was speaking this language and reminded it that we wanted to understand and help but could only do that if it spoke to us in "modern English for the year 2007". I asked in several different ways - if it was willing to help us understand, if it could understand me when I spoke to it, if it understood that we wanted to help and that it was safe to speak to us in English - things like that. After a short time we got some English "yes", "no" (with head shakes), "I don't know", "I'll try". There was one "si" in there too. I asked the SubC Mind to allow another part to come forward to translate for us but didn't get any movement there (yet). Then at one point when I asked for "English for the year 2007" the voice became very angry and said in English "I don't LIKE 2007!"! My client became very agitated then and later said she was suprised at how intense the anger felt. We restored calmness again and I asked what year the voice was from - "I don't know" in English. What year would you like to speak in - "I don't know". Would you like to speak in the English of 2000? A very calm and childlike "OK".
At that point she opened her eyes and said she didn't know why she opened them except it felt like she was done. I asked if she wanted to go back into trance and she said she felt like she was done for today but felt so much better knowing she could relax and at least control the emotions associated with the voice if not totally control the voice.

Thats a short version of what went on - the actual session took about 40 minutes. I recorded all the parts where she was speaking the other language. She wants to keep the appointment time we originally had for tomorrow.

Suggestions? Do I need a referral?
Hi Sue,

If you would like to talk a little about this case off-line I would be happy to help you work with this lady. I know from your comments on the ECHT Discussion group that you feel very new to this sort of thing but remain open to vibrational work. I would be happy to discuss remote work with you for this client.

If it feels right to call me feel free.
In the meantime, know that you are doing a great job and it sounds like everything you did in session with this very unique client has bee right on the mark. Good work.

Blessings,

Jim
Thanks again to all of you who have responded with suggestions and encouragement for this client and for me. Here is the latest update.
She called and left a voice mail message for me 2 hours before her second appointment thanking me for my sincerity and how I had helped her relax and not feel like she was a "freak" BUT (don't you just love that word?! :)) the medical people she had been referred to advised her not to see me again. When I heard this voice mail I felt what I would have to descrbe as a physical pain for her and just put out my prayer and thoughts for her well being. I decided to call her and let her know I had received her message and understood that she needed to do what she felt was in her best interest, that I wished her all my best and that if she ever wanted to work on this or anything else in the future to know that I'm here for her. She sounded relieved by this and by the way, spoke to me totally in English for the entire conversation. When I commented how happy I was to hear her speaking in English she paused and said it was easy to stay calm and talk to me in English (hmmm). I reminded her that since she can do that with me she has the power to do that with anyone.
I feel good about the little bit I did help her and how much I learned and grew while researching to get ready to see her (and I will still be learning more from some of you as time permits - thanks!). I'm just still struggling a bit with a feeling of not completing this - I'm not sure how to describe it. Then the thought comes that maybe I'm not supposed to feel complete because she still may need me in the future and I need to be ready for her.
As Jim says, I am new to this and just find that what we as human beings have the ability to accomplish is amazing! For 33 years in dentistry I worked with people and loved that but was working in 10 minute time increments with fractions of a millimeter. What we do is so HUGE compared to that!!!
Thanks again everybody. You all rock!
Sue
Hi Sue
This sounds like a very interesting case. I would suggest doing a spirit releasement on this client and also her sister. I have been doing this for almost 26 years and I teach this therapy at my school. Any way I may be of help to you please contact me

I"ve been reading and following the posts on this lady. I'm so disappointed you are not getting to work with her right now. I guess I'm being a voyeur but this fascinated me...and scared the crap out of me. What would I do if I had a client that started doing this in a session? I'd probably find the door in a hurry! But it sure sounds interesting and challenging when you are doing it.
Hi Sue,

Sounds like a very unstable person so you be careful with her. Anyone who would tell you this information over the phone or take a taped voice to a medical doctor doesn't have a sound footing. Have you considered she might have a spirit attachment? Please protct your self.

Good luck my friend

Don
Don, hadn't you also considered this might have been a "past life regression", real or imagined? Saying the person is unstable isn't very helpful, IMO. Personally, I'd want to record the words and see if they could be translated..
