HypnoThoughts Construction Updates

I will do my best to give you all the information and still keep this quick.

This site is built upon a basic platform provided by a company (let's call them 'the platform'). All the new features and updates I have been adding for the last seven months have been provided by a team of tech designers who specialize in working with this platform (let's call them, "the widgets"). Both companies have been working together very well for quite some time. HypnoThoughts is far from the only site that uses these companies together.

Friday afternoon 'the platform' decided to remove all support for every one of 'the widgets' applications without notice. Since then I, like many other site owners, have spent about 80% of the time at my desk trying very hard to resolve things. I have read just over one thousand emails and responded to most of them.

I have been communicating directly with the CEOs of both companies involved. I have had productive conversations and a few strongly worded arguments. The bottom line is that both sides are working hard to create solutions, though they are not working together. I have been discussing things with other platform companies as well as widget makers to weigh all my options. Everyone is working hard to make sure things get resolved quickly.

"The platform" and "the widgets" will probably end up in court. I made it clear to both CEOs that I have no loyalty for either of their companies, even though they both provide great services. My only commitment is to you guys, the members of HypnoThoughts. I'm going to continue to work (almost around the clock) until I can get things in line. Some of this will simply take time, as I don't want to rush into anything until I can do the necessary research and testing on things before incorporating them into our community.

While I understand this is an inconvenience for some of you who like the missing features, people who know me personally already know that I will turn this into a winning situation for this site. Our biggest projects that we have been working on for the last few months are still completely unaffected by Friday's events, as those contracts are with a separate provider altogether. We are continuing to move forward with great strides and are working very hard to give you guys all the cool features you had and much more.

Thanks for looking out for me guys. I got a solid 7 hours last night.

UPDATE: I just finished a conversation that assured me we should have a live chat feature up by the end of the week. We are still working on the others.

I will keep you posted. Right now I have to go see my clients.

Right now all I need from you guys is the understanding and patience that some of the cool features won't be the way we remember them. I'm really glad this is such a supportive environment for everyone, especially now that it's me that is asking for understanding.

UPDATE #2:
No content was lost from HypnoPedia! Everything that was contributed has been recovered, the only thing that is broken is the delivery system to you guys. I can still read it all, I just have to figure out a new way to get it all to you in a peer editable way.

This was a big concern for me and I am very relieved that one of the support guys was able to recover the info early this morning.

Chat and HypnoPedia are my top priorities. The cool drop down menus and some of the other fun pages are going to come back, but not until I can give you the features that are designed to share information.

Scott, most of us joined Hypnothoughts and became staunch converts long before live chat and Hypnopedia were more than a thought in your mind. You've created a wonderful community where we can all come together to share our knowledge, our lack of knowledge and more. Yeah, all the gizmos have been fun and nice but the real heartbeat of Hypnothoughts is unchanged. We're all still here. Nobody is going away just because we don't have the newest toy on the block or because some bully broke part of our toys. Hell, I can't work half the toys that are still here and not broken. Chill, dude. We'll still be here when they get them fixed or reasonable replacements.

I'm not rushing into any decisions. I will definitely add that option to the list and do my best to figure out what is the best long term solution for everyone.

I second Melissa on this. The thing that attracted me to HypnoThoughts was the sense of community, which came from the forums. Those still work. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not missing anything.
