I spent many years in a very sales environment and after countless years of body language and persuasive skills etc. I have always decided to read and learn more around behaviour etc.

I have come across some great books... and from these I then started looking and reading about NLP only to put these down for a few moments as I wanted to follow the stories of Milton Erikson....

I have to say i have always found the body and the BRAIN amazing... though now... my views of the world have changed and I am so eagar to learn
more and more... This has helped me to gain a further interest in Hypnotherapy and I have decided to look at the subject in more detail...

I purchased Anthony Jacquins ‘Reality is Plastic’ and have found this extremely interesting and I will be joining one of his courses in the next 3 to 6 months.  However, time and
other commitments are play a big part over the coming months so if anyone can recommend
any other really great books/dvds etc that would be very helpful.

and also, apart from Anthony’s course, what I really need are recommendations on other UK based courses that will eventually help me to nurture and build skills.

Many thanks,

Darren

Ps. Please don't feel that I am fishing for anything.. .I really am not expecting anything other than information

People who you might want to train with, who are in - or frequent - the UK, include:

Ant
Stephen Brooks
Adam Eason
Jon Chase

However, I'm of the opinion that most hypnotherapists need training in things other than hypnosis. E.g. REBT, Clean Language and so on.
Thanks Graham,

very helpful ... I assume by Clean language you mean along the lines of symbolic modeling?

Hello Darren,

The "Phone Book" by Blum and Zarro is an excellent bridge between NLP theory and the practical application of NLP -

You can find it here:

I am going to second Micheal's recommendation. You can't say enough good things about Peter Blum. he makes learning a lot of fun,

Darren,

John Butler and Terence Watts are also excellent UK trainers.

Katherine
Ah, yes, I should definitely have mentioned Terrence Watts.

Yes, exactly.

Hi Darren,

thanks for the kind words about my book. Practical training courses of course accelerate your learning.

However in the meantime books that inspire you to do some practical of your own are the next best thing.

'Deeper and Deeper' by Jon Chase is geared toward stage hypnosis but is useful way beyond that.
'Training Trances' by Overdurf and Silverthorn is brilliant full of practical exercises but serves as a decent bridge between NLP theory and practical hypnotic technique.
For a interesting look at the brain Ratey's 'A users guide to the brain' is superb.

More recently, should you have allowed dust to settle on your understanding of NLP, or you have come across watered down versions of it get 'Provocative Hypnosis' by Rasmusson. Awesome book that shakes NLP up big time but in fact is just taking it back to its foundations.

Hope that helps.

Anthony
Thanks for all the info and some interesting suggestions and titles here. I will try to stock up on some of these over the next few days.

Happy reading for me and thanks everyone

Darren
