I currently hold an RN license in the state of Colorado.  I am interested in starting a hypnotherapy practice and am wondering if anyone is aware of additional licensing I need to start up.  I want to make sure I comply with any state requirements.

That is a link to state by state laws. It does look like Colorado requires registration HOWEVER, depending on the scope of practice laws related to your RN, and holding yourself out as an RN using hypnosis as a modality, you are probaly exempt. Contact your nursing board to find out if independent consulting services utilizing trancewrok is withink the scope of practice, and if it is you can probaly ignore the regulation as an unlicensed psychotherapist, since you would be a licensed RN.

in most states, licensed healthcare professionals, can operate within their scope of practice, even if it includes hypnosis as a modality without need for additional registrations and licensure. The key here is probaly how much autonomy to practice the RN license gives you in your state - and each state is different.

If not within your scope of practice, or you do not want to hold yourself as an RN doing hypnosis, it looks like a failry simple registration process rather than licensure or certiifcation
I have been looking at Colorado for a friend of mine who is also an RN and has a hypnotherapy practice that she is planning to add. Richard is correct. If you are licensed as an RN, Consulting Hypnotherapy practices can be construed as being within the scope of Practise. I would confirm that with nursing board though. Registration is easy and simple however as a therapist. Colorado does not seem to care how they hold your genitalia as long as the grip is firm.
