As I was watching a "Classic Milton Erickson Video", I noticed how good Erickson was at a certain aspect of the unconscious mind, which affects the hypnosis in a very particular way.

Oftentimes when doing the handshake interrupt (one of the inductions detailed on our new home study course), one of the aspects of the movement that I think really "makes" it work is the sense of hesitation or ambiguity in the touch.

And it has to do with becoming very aware of sensations. A person who is not aware of the sensitivity of their touch is oftentimes rough, and you can learn to touch people with much more "intelligence" in the muscles (aka Feldenkrais method).

You see your unconscious mind picks up even the slightest touch, and is even aware of the body heat, and the energy that is passed from one person to another, just by hovering near the area which you are about to touch. Since most people are so used to a touch being very rapid, out and back again, it creates a hypnotic effect simply by hovering there slightly, before touching, or by touching slightly then backing off again and then touching again before backing off.

In fact this is an easy way to create a time distortion, to reach over to a person and almost touch them, and to defocus your eyes and to relax your body, and to maintain a rapport with them while you go into a trance, and you almost touch them... and time actually slows down. The important thing is that you are in that state.

And Erickson has shown that we can do this, while also slowing the voice down, and while also using language patterns... "And the arm can lower onto the arm .. of the chair... that's right..." and time distortion language, "and go way deep asleep.. now... let it seem to you as if many minutes have passed" that it can create quite a profound trance.

And so one of the things for you to experiment with, is your ability to move your own hands very slowly, slight little jerks, as if the unconscious mind was moving it... and because it is interpreted by both minds as an unconscious communication, it will send the other person very deep very quickly, because when we have rapport, it acts as an easy communication channel to send very deep ideas in very quickly....

Not at the conscious mind level (normal "talking") but at the unconscious mind level, which controls the body and the way in which movements are interpreted...

Great post, I agree, that seductive light touch is very powerful, good way to practice is on a cranky baby, light touch around their face, between eyebrows and they are gone... lol.. I did it the other day on my 4 year old hyperactive nieces, she was over tired at the time but was not able to sleep... when I did the slight touch around her face and eyes telling her the Cinderella story, she closed her eyes and smiled, node her head while in my arms, confirming what she sees and before I knew it, she was so deep in trance, and I said now you can sleep and tell me all about your fun dreams in the morning, guess what she did in the morning? she shared with me everything....

Ahhh, great example Doreen :)
Also when it comes to seduction, one does not need to use words, a lady can just move her body, her lips, her nails... or just eating a fruit, licking her finger or the Popsicle or just playing with her hands, when she touches herself in a very light touch seductive way, and that is enough for the to have they guys blood pumping .... I am sure guys can do that too :)
Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm rolling my eyessssss lol
Nice induction you wrote there! I hope you didn't slip into trance when you remembered writing it now....

Joe
lol....slept like a baby......
Visual and kinesthetic inductions work just as well as verbal ones do. Sometimes, even better when it comes to seductive trances.
This is a good post, A light touch does wonders that's why they say massage therapist that have the touch can do wonders with a lightness of their finger tips ( I was a LMT in the past).
The slightess touch can be made in order to calm a person or put them under hypnosis deeper.
Just a thought!
