Anyone read "Mapping: A Course in the Theoretical Foundation for Being an Eclectic Practitioner "?

Greetings everyone!

I was doing some research this morning and came across the book "Mapping: A Course in the Theoretical Foundation for Being an Eclectic Practitioner " by Hellams and Schreiber. Here is the book's description:

"Training material for therapist interested in an eclectic approach to therapy. This paradigm merges therapeutic schools into a unified approach to therapy. This new paradigm unifies different schools of therapy into one aligned methodology. Hypnotic, cognitive and biological schools interacting in harmony."

I'm hoping several people here have read it and can give me some opinions or a recommendation yeay or nay. I thought I'd get broader responses here than in the individual groups.

I am a certified hypnotherapist with currently NLP very close to a practitioner level - if not so - plus some time line. I am familiar with CBT based on reading/listening to Beck and his daughter. I also incorporate meridian therapies/ energy psychology when appropriate or especially useful. I like to combine techniques to get the best results based on the individual client. My background and interests are why I am interested in this book. Since I model my practice pretty close to this book's purpose, I'm wondering if it will be helpful.

Thank you very much!
Kind regards,
Michelle

I haven't read the book... but it sounds like it might be an interesting read.

If you think about cognitive (the foundation of cognitive stems from Gestalt psychology - which if you recall is a movement toward more holistic phenom.) psychology - it deals with the 'here and now' and that appeals to me.

The other part 'Biological' - which totally relates to behavior and how we process information. It is more indepth in areas of measuring variables in order to make sense of the behavior. I believe it also dives into the area of somatic illnesses...

So, in the scheme of things - it sounds like it would/should be a good read.
I may have to look it up myself.

Thanks,
~~D.
Hi Michelle,

Your mission, if you accept it is to go to your local library and ask the nice person behind the desk to order "Mapping: A Course in the Theoretical Foundation for Being an Eclectic Practitioner " by Hellams and Schreiber for you and kindly notify you when it comes in.

Read the book and write a brief review for your correspondents on hypnothoughts...

Thank You!

This post will self-destruct in ________

Hi Donna-
Hi Michael,

I hoped you of all people (you seeming to be among the most likely suspects) would have already read it!

So, I will buy it...The contents look very interesting. Fortunately I have a Reward Certificate which will pay for 99.9% of the book. As a bibliophile and antiquarian bookseller, I do love my books, so much so that last week alone I purchased over 50, so reading "Mapping" anytime soon is unlikely. A few are for holiday presents. ; )

If I finish the book before dust buries this post, I'll add my review, but I'd still like to read another's opinion.
My thoughts exactly, Donna. Thank you for your reply!
Hi Michelle and D-,

Being a likely suspect comes with the territory or maybe it comes with my map - It can get so confusing-

FYI- I hadn't heard of the "Mapping:" until Michelle asked about it -- I think I'll wait for either of you ( (M- or D,) to post your review before taking further action on it at this time...

Since Michelle revealed being a bibliophile and D- expressed an interest in reading - I will share that I recently read and re-read "A CRITICAL HISTORY OF HYPNOTISM - THE UNAUTHORIZED STORY" by hynpnothoughts member Saul Mark Rosenfeld and I highly recommend putting this outstanding book on the top of your reading lists--

How could all those experts be soooooo wrong for so long?
"A CRITICAL HISTORY OF HYPNOTISM" is
