Suggestions needed a.s.a.p. I just received an email inquiry from a lady asking me about athletic performance.
Her words; "My question is this, my daughter plays on a club volleyball team, very competitive, and there is this team, well more than one, but this is the top team around here & has been for years, the problem is when the girls have a tournament & they see they have to play these teams they automatically assume they will lose & they are pretty much beat as soon as they walk on the court. I thought hypnosis might be a way to help them to just go out and play their game no matter who they are playing?? Can you help us with this"?
Honestly, I've never worked with any kind of athletic performance, much less for a group. I'd love to help this lady AND to be able to do it in a groupsession for the team. However, I need some ideas so I can put together a basic plan as to how I would approach this before I respond to her.
If you received this email, what would your hypnosis program "plan" be in order to be successful with these girls in a private session AND for a group session(s)?
I know some hypnotherapist specialize in sports and athletic performance; I've just never had it come my way .....
Thanks in advance for your input! :)

I haven't read all of the replies so forgive me if I repeat anything but I find a good technique for performance is the new behaviour generator.
However instead of them coaching themselves to the new behaviour and then imaging floating into the screen I stand them up and have them unzip the body in the picture and physically walk forward into themselves, this tends to create a very strong reaction as it is visual and kinaesthetic !
Hope I helped

Gerry Kein at Omnihypnosis has a great instruction DVD on this. Easily downloadable.
He bases himself mainly on the book: Sports psyching by Thomas Tutko.
Greetings,
Bernard

I'll check this out. I just want to say how wonderful it is that we all have Hypno-Thoughts as a wonderful resource. We've all trained at different places, at different times and have been in practice for various amounts of time. I love all the great suggestions and the help I've received. We can learn so much from one another.
I hope at some point, I'll see something on here that I can help someone with and have the opportunity to return everyone's generosity and willingness to share! :)
