Anyone who goes on youtube knows how rude and insulting at least 1/4th the users are. Pick a video that has over 10k views. Any video. You'll find the comments which are reminiscent of a grade schooler's playground bullying.

I get at least 10k views a day on my videos, of those..10k, I'd say about 20 leave comments. Of those 20 comments, usually about 5, give or take a few, are insults. From calling me stupid, to insulting my looks, I've heard it all.

Which brings me to the subject at hand: I look at other female stage hypnotists-somewhere I want to be someday soon, and they are all so beautiful. I am no where near their beauty, and it scares me. Could I make it as a stage hypnotist without being supermodel gorgeous?

Where does physical appearance come in hypnosis, both stage and therapy?

Physical beauty is an asset in ALL walks of life. If you're asking if this is justified- well, no- of course not.
But it's the way of the world...

P.S. I would think If you're getting 10,000 views a day on your videos that you couldn't be TOO unpleasant on the eyes!

Haha, It's my teeth they make fun of, or my voice. xD

I wouldn't sweat it if I were you- if your teeth are really THAT bad to look at then cosmetic dentistry can do wonders.
As for your voice, that...could...pose more of a problem for a hypnotist, but even that can be altered/improved by a voice coach.

I tried to find one of your videos on YouTube by typing "lauren wade hypnosis" and "female stage hypnotists" in the search box but came up blank. What name do you go by...?
Doesn't matter if you prefer not to say, I was just mildly curious to see if you were making a big deal out of nothing...

You have to remember there is a psychology behind the comments....

Saul is right however, if 10,000 people have viewed your video then it shows you are doing something right...being in a industry where people talk about beauty all the time...let me tell you that beauty is not EVERYTHING, of course it helps but its not EVERYTHING...

You already, hit the hammer on the nail about what kind of people post on thos comments...I must ask, why are you making a big deal about this issue, if you dont mind me asking?

Can we really live in a perfect world where people can get along, did you know cyber bully is on the rise in the world...some of these issues get very serious...its easy to get lost in the name calling but in reality...
It's hard to keep your self esteem up when you are insulted a bunch xD.

Thats when you remember, they are probally saying the things they do to make themselves feel better and thats all. If I listened to things ppl said, I would be in a hell of a mess.
Absolutely.

The other thing to remember is that people behave differently online, like they do when in their cars, as compared to when they're right next to a person. Because they can't experience first-hand the reaction that they cause, they forget that they're saying and doing stuff that they mostly wouldn't say and do if the person was there in person. People wander round in their bubbles, forgetting that behind the wheels of other vehicles are human beings who feel, and behind the keyboards or the URLs, there are people whose life and work is victim to some idiots saying stuff that they don't even mean.

Lauren. We're all beautiful in our own way, and we're all ugly to someone. Realise that you don't care what someone you'll never meet thinks. Realise that you don't want someone for a friend who'll insult instead of support or give constructive feedback... So you don't care whatever banal or cruel comments are made online.

Understand that you ARE beautiful, and worthwhile. And look inside for that approval, and know that confidence is attractive... So improve that confidence and self-belief... And go live your dream! XXX
Keep in mind that comments are skewed. Generally, people who like insulting folks randomly are more likely to comment than those who have a neutral or vaguely positive opinion. It's probably more like 5% of the users who are actually that insulting – they're just the most vocal ones.

As for beauty... I think that with enough personal charisma, even the ugliest person alive could mesmerise (whoops, wrong choice of words there) people.
Hey, Lauren,

Insults from people you don't know are a sign that you are achieving notoriety.

I'm a professional musician, and let me tell you, every negative comment resounds louder than fifty positive comments. That's just how it is until you learn to not care.

I will tell you that I'm not the best-looking guy, or even a particularly good musician. But I have stage presence, and that's way more important than looks.

So it's important to remind yourself of the good comments and get over the negative comments. Fortunately, hypnosis is a great tool for doing that. :-)

Shine on,

James
Hi Lauren...
I did what Saul did and went out to see your videos. But wasn't able to locate you. 10000 views a day is a lot. Many Hypnotists have about 1000 to 5000 total. I can think of one that has 600000 but that was because the video got ripped off and used to promote thing else with. That said .. others on the the thread have already pointed out the when someone can be Flubadub1234 they tend to be a bit more cruel than when they are in thier true persona. Particularly when they are not mature, I would let that roll of your back because it says they are watching you and that's a good thing. One of the most important things you can learn ... particularly in entertainment Hypnosis ... is to be "bigger than the room". You would be surprised how much criticism is really a result of jealousy because you can and they can't
Saul is also right about the ability to cosmetically enhance your appearance. . In my lifetime I probably have the cost of a new corvette imbedded in my teeth. It's cheaper and easier for you to that now with modern dental technology. There are some good voice coaches around. I am a graduate of several Jonathan Altfeld seminars on that very subject. Hypnotic voice is a learned skill. So none of that is a problem ...unless ,, you let it be a problem. Hypnosis is about confidence and your own mind set it is not about physical appearance, If you think only incredibly sexy people can be great Hypnotists ... I invite you to look even beyond my friend James to Dr. Beian David Phillips, who is certainly less than sexy, So don't get hung up on appearance... get hung up on skills ,, because that's what matters.

The Pretty Goodest Hypnotist on the Planet,
hey Lauren

Beauty is a natural power you can wield, and gives an "unfair" advantage to men and women, so work with what you have to your very best.

I've watched your youtube vids, and I can see how some immature dork might pick on your teeth, but frankly I find you quite attractive overall, especially your eyes... very nice. And honestly, your teeth add a flair of comedy to your presentation, they seem to make you more approachable, likable, and human.
Women that are toooo model perfect have the opposite problem, people tend to not take them seriously.

I would definitely work on your voice, and your over all body language - perhaps come across as graceful elegant and poised, radiate a relaxed yet unshakable confidence.

If and when you have the funds, maybe go for palate reconstruction eventually.. but I don't think you "need" too.
