Benefits of a daily practice (A challenge with a prize!)

Hello all,

Following on from Richard's posting regarding Progressive Muscle Relaxation, I am inspired to set a challenge.

One of the recurring issues when something is useful, (and needed), is that people use a technique once or twice, and then lapse. a form of self sabotage?

A one off session of deep relaxation using progressive muscle relaxation is useful in itself, but does not usually sort out what is essentially a chronic problem of retained unneccesary tension (which is endemic in our society and can negatively affect every area of our functioning). If the technique is adopted as a daily practice for an extended period of time (much the same as a regular workout, or meditation practice), the benefits become more and more profound, after a few weeks, and then there is continued progressive improvement in all areas... with or without hypnosis.

When used with concomitant hypnosis/psychotherapy, the benefits of the generalised letting go of physical (and mental) tension can be emphasised, and built upon, clearing the way for more specific positive change suggestions to be more effective.

I wonder how many readers of this forum, and their clients commit themselves to this form of regular practice, and what excuses/rationalisations the others come up with for not sticking with this proven process.

So here is the challenge: I have put my half hour MP3 session of this deep relaxation technique on the audio player on my page.

Who is willing to use this once a day for a month, and report back here on their experience, and progress. (including what got in the way at times.)

There will be an (as yet unspecified) prize for all who take part.

Love and hugs,

Fable

Still using the recording on an occasional basis.

Have basically made the practice part of my everyday life, taking a few moments out throughout the day, to just relax, whilst doingome of the exercises in my mind.

All going very well.

Thanks again.

Thanks David,

Glad to hear that you got so much benefit.

It sounds like you are learning a bit about your own patterns along the way.

I listened last night in bed, and had the most wonderful nights sleep.

Great question Trish,

The answer from meis, I played it on the computers dvd drive and it worked fine. I think the computer programme, sorts out any translation.

I have today been given as a gift, my first ever DVD playe that work on the telly, so I don't know much about that yet.

Shalom from Israel,

Is this the new one you promised?

Love Doreen
I like your persistance Doreen,

Sorry, it is the same PMR relaxation recording
for somebody who badly needs to learn to relax,
although I suspect he will not use it.

The new one I promised,
was on the 'Improving Relationships' thread,
and as I said there:

"Events have overtook me,
and I have had to postpone working on that.
Plus the feedback that I am getting seems to be
that the present one hit the mark.

I have had a couple people who
like yourself,
find it a little long,
but others who
like the luxury of a good length session.

My own thoughts are
that anything less than half an hour
is selling yourself short.
and commiting to an hour a day,
dedicated to your personal development
is a very reasonable thing to do.
So this present recording is in the middle ground.

I will get round to making a more polished version,
with some changes,
but I can't gaurantee that it will be shorter."

At the moment,
I am focussing on my presentation
for the upcoming Hypno Summit.
So don't hold your breath.

But I will get round to it as promised

Love and hugs,

Fable
Thanks Fable, as to holding my breath, not to worry, I cannot do that for too long :)
All the best with your hypnosubmit presentation.

Thanks Doreen,

Hypnosummit Presentation is now polished up, and sent of to Scott.

Gary and I are really extremely satidfied with the finnished product.

I am looking forward to the actual day, when I will be online answerng questions, both thoughout the session, and aferwards in the Lounge area.

I have just had a look at the latest on the presentations from others, and there are some really interesting topics, some exciting ones, and some just not to be missed.

As I have had a lot on over the past few weeks, and also a busy ferw weeks coming up, and adjusting a new relationship!.
I have taken once a gain to using the Progressive relaxation recording on a regular basis. It is helping me keep on top of things.

Anyone who has lapsed... I can personally reccomend starting up again.

Love and hugs,

Hello again,

I have been asked once again to make available the progressive relaxation recording, it will be available for downloading for the next seven days.

Please feel free to use it
either as an occasional deep relaxation session,
or better still use it as prescribed in the original chalenge.
ie, make it a dailly practice,
notice the growing benefits of sticking to that commitment,
and feel free to give feedback within this thread.

Thank you, Fable! As I was reading this thread from the start, I began to feel more and more regretful of having missed out on the "challenge"! I should have know you would not have revived it without also making your offer again! I look forward to the experience.

Best wishes,

Kelley

Thanks Kelley,

It is a long thread to read from the start to the end,
however, I thoroughly recommend that practice.
as, there is a wealth of good advice in the thread
coming from the practical experience
of those who took part in the challenge.

In fact if you come up with a question,
or problem with the practice,
you can bet your life that
the answer is already within this thread.

There is also within this thread lots of encouragement
from those who have walked the path,
and discovered the benefits

I look forward to hearing your feedback over the coming weeks.

And indeed,
will continue to issue the prizes
to those who take part,
and give feedback.

The prize is not conditional on how well you get on with the practice..
it is conditional on giving the feedback within this thread.

Love and hugs,

Fable
