Building a successful hypnosis business

I am planning to build my hypnosis business around peak performance, geared toward athletes and those wanting to achieve high results in any area of life.  I wanted to ask if anybody can tell me their experience and advice on:

1.       Specializing – is this a good way to go, or is it better to be a generalist?

2.       Building and marketing a business – what is the key to success? What is the average income level? How do you determine the right price?

I am just starting out – so I appreciate anything anybody can provide.

Thank you!

1.) Be willing to do general work but definatly specialize. Marketing is more successful when targeting one or two underserved niches. More bang for the buck in smaller advertising venues.
2.) Key to success? belive in yourself, be willing to explain hypnosis, always dress professional even when out (first impressions do count) and hone your "elevator speech". Be findable on the internet, people search with geographical terms.....
Average income? Will depend on your geography more than anything else. Just take smoking alon in a city like mine (tulsa) and try to see 5 new people a week at $250 = 5K per month.... 10 people a week = 10K per month.
Price will depend on geography more than anything else. $400 in new york, to $75 in rural oklahoma.... and everything in between. People do not buy "price" they buy "professionalism" and "performance".
As a side note, if you want to be successful DO NOT SEE PEOPLE OUT OF YOUR HOUSE.....

This is exactly what I have built my practice on, kind of happened by accident a long time ago haha...but I am also a Yoga teacher so you may want to pay attention to what I post! Lol . I have a very deep relation with trainers, and that’s were I would tell you to start; they will pass a lot of clients to you.
As far as money goes, well I can tell you that life can be very good! As a single father I Raised two daughters and have a very nice place to live. I am opening my 2nd office in Calif. One is in a moderately small town and the other is opening in a rather large town, I also have a small office in a very small town in AZ but they have two gyms and it’s a great place to vacation! I work remote with up scale clients that hire trainers, there is so much to this, More than I can put here. But you will not be disappointed in going in this direction.

Thank you Tony - I can't thank you enough! You have inspired me beyond where I already am!!!

Keep this in mind, as we are both Yoga teachers we know, that people can always do more that they think! I built a “suggestion” around a statement once told to me. “There is a reserve of strength inside everyone of at least 15% to 20%. Now think about wording to Release this reserve of strength!! Put in your words. Wow your going to have a great future if you listen to yourself

Yes I do. www.maverickhypnotics.com but you will not find any of this on my web site. My site is how I set myself different than most, which then allows the Trainers (and others) to see that I have a different way of doing things. What I am sharing with you is the “behind what I do”, and my web site is how I set the “mind set” of others to accept what I do! If you ever setup one keep this in mind “what makes you different?” most sites are very much the same , say the same things, put it in the same way.
Let me put it this way, anyone can dance, but if you (a mans point of view lol) have the appearance of being more than a dancer, you don’t have to hover at the bar to get one haha

Yeah, it also forces hypnotists to be serious about their business if they are paying rent on an office. Going to an office to do sessions changes the entire context and you will act differently. There's a big difference between a "hobbyist" and "the guy everyone goes to when they really have to stop smoking now."
Tony - your website is fantastic! I can see why you're successful based on what you've been telling me. You have really inspired me...thank you! Very true about the bar analogy...

if you dont have a blog start one!! funny thing how people think, if you write in a one to one mind set, they feel they are getting to know you in a way that is personal. I bounce from posting information and warm fuzzy thoughts. people in general want to know YOU the inside you without getting to close to you, it builds trust and a sense that you are more than just trying to Sell them something.
hey just an idea you may want to try mine is mwenhancements.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. I get about 300 hits a week. so yep you can touch people here.
forward in thoughts
