Hi everyone! I recently put together an e-book entitled Calm Your Tinnitus: The Less You Fear It, The Less You Hear It,  as part of a website I recently produced that focuses on that problem.

This book is a primer on the mind/body connection when it comes to tinnitus and is intended as an educational tool for prospective clients; although there are some ideas a professional hypnotist might find useful too.

Over 2 million Americans experience tinnitus to the point of being disabling and that number will surely continue to rise in coming years with our returning Iraq and Afghan vets.

Attached to this post is a copy if you are interested. Your comments and questions are welcomed. Happy reading! Jim tinnitusebook.pdf

Walt, the Hogan book is quite useful because it gives a good overview of the condition and the various treatment options. He has training program for professionals does emphasize regression work which may or may not fit in with how you work with clients.  However I believe any type of intervention where you help the client a) better understand what tinnitus is, b) help them discharge the fear/panic attached to having tinnitus but whatever means you are comfortable working with  and c) teaching them relaxation and distraction skills is going to be of benefit. Much like pain control you don't want them to expect that POOF! the tinnitus is going to just disappear. Rather, build positive yet realistic expectation that the level of distress is going to gradually decrease over time with possibly some dips and valleys. Please feel free  to connect if you have any questions. Good luck to you and your clients! Jim

James,

Thanks! I'm working with a client with tinnitus and reading Kevin Hogan's book.

Has anyone taken his training?

Walt

Jim,

Thanks for your support. I believe we know the cause of the tinnitus.

I'll be in touch off this discussion.

Walt
