Clients claiming to be unconscious or can't remember the session

Over the last week or so, most of my clients have been telling me that they don't remember anything except the induction and the emerging.

I've gotten positive feedback, but was wondering if this has happened to other hypnotists and if they found this detrimental to long-term success with clients. I always thought the deeper levels of somnambulism were preferential to work in, but even though I'm getting ideo-motor feedback and they are talking to me, they claim they can't remember anything.

I seem to be going deeper into states of hypnosis when I am hypnotizing subjects. Maybe they are picking up on it. Also, if it's detrimental, should I maybe stay away from saying "your unconscious...mind...now...,etc."

Your thoughts?

Keep doing exactly what you are doing.

You want them this deep. Many hypnotists can't even get this depth, and thats why they aren't effective.

If you want them to remember, then give them the suggestion that they will remember everything. I don't always want my client remembering what we did.

I find that even if they claim not to have "remembered" they will still parrot back some of the work - so it is in there somewhere! I would view it as a bonus personally!

Best wishes

Graham
Thanks Joe!

I appreciate it! I had clients tell me that they had not remembered parts of the session before, but not remembering the entire session is new. They do always open their eyes when I count them up and they say they feel great!
Thanks Graham!

Yes, they have been telling me that three days later (or sometime later) they suddenly remembered what I had said about something and it made them smile and think I had really done something to them.
Good job! While powerful hypnosis can occur in "light" states, it never hurts to have 'em so deep they don't remember.

Keep up the good work,

James
Thanks Ian and James!
A little technique that I use to give them their memory back is to tell them that when they tap themselves on the forehead, they will remember everything that has happened during the session... Go ahead and tap your forehead now.

I hope that helps you

Hi Michael,

Keep doing what your doing :) I'm finding that i'm having to count my clients back 2 or 3 times now as they go so deep they don't wanna come back! hahahahaaa - i tend to ask my clients if "anything came up for them" that we need to address - any resistance, questioning of a suggestion, that kind of thing.

I also want my clients to act from such a natural subconscious way that i don't want to bring the suggestions to them consciously, if this makes sense. We can consciously start questioning, rewriting, resisting, the change and suggestions so i'm pleased to leave them in their relaxed state. If there is anything that did come up or not feel right we can address this straight away. If not, we re-book and assess things the next time :) I used to do a lot of re-inforcing, etc at the end of a session but don't do this anymore - i find that tends to take away from the wonderful relaxed state they are in and that is how i want every single one of my clients to leave!

It is all in the results, so if you are finding your clients aren't achieving the end result, then look at what's going on :)

Don't get hung up on them remembering - what about you? When you have hypnosis, do you remember everything? I don't!

Where can I visit you? I would love to be so deeply hypnotized by someone else:)
It could be a good experience and could bring much more understanding for my clients.
And I am not joking.
Sometimes I think I wish I did not know all that stuff and could be hypnotized.
I am hypnotizing but there is no one close to hypnotize me:)
