Hey guys....I'm curious to know if anyone has done any work with men who have delayed ejaculation or experience an inability to ejaculate as a result of psychotropic meds.  If you have a script please, please, please share....Any thoughts, comments appreciated : )

Why are you wanting to work with someone on psychotropic meds?
@ Henxy,

I think that it is fine to assist clients suffering from iatrogenic ejaculation disorders. This condition is common in people being treated for depression and/or erectile dysfunction and hypnosis professionals like us can help these DE sufferers without treating their underlying medical/psychiatric conditions as long as they are able to understand and follow our instructions

Sorry Sherell,

"Scripts are for kids..."

I am happy to share a concept with the understanding that I am not a medical doctor, this is not a medical opinion and I am not suggesting that we treat a client's mental "Illness"

If your client is able to utilize imagery and/or metaphors, hypnosis can help him the same way that hypnosis helps people reduce the adverse effects of chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy --

FYI - Many doctors recommend DE patients teach themselves to and practice self-pleasuring with their other hand as part of their treatment plan - which shifts their focus from ejaculating to enjoying their pleasure -- I recommend that you help your client shift his focus from ejaculating to enjoying his and his partner's pleasure and satisfaction...

Hint: I have found the idea that their partners might actually enjoy that they have a prolonged erection --"If you focus on the pleasure and satisfaction that you and your partner are sharing -- ejaculating will take care of itself." Blah, blah, blah...

Sorry, I didn't realize the question might be unclear. Many of my clients are referred to me from their doctors, and are currently on medication for disorders such as depression or bipolar disorder. These drugs sometimes have sexual side effects, one of which being delayed ejaculation.
Thank you Michael!

I understand your point, Michael, but I don't think it is appropriate and indeed entirely possible to disconnect a person themselves in order to deal with just one element without risking the need to address the element that 'we' claim not to deal with. Psychotropics are not antidepressants; they're antipsychotics.

Antipsychotics, Anti-Depressants and Anti Obessives are all considered psychotropic -- Sunshine...

Sorry, I forget that medical and lay terminology differ. We're both right, in different circles.
I am okay with both of us being correct -- Henxy

FYI - The US National Institue of Mental Health is not a "lay" organization and according to them all mental health medications are psychotropic - Psychotropic simply means the drug by-passes the blood/brain barrier.

In response to the original question (and assuming a referral has been received) I would use a combination of Parts Therapy and Mental Rehearsal. I do not use scripts myself by I have, in situations such as these, compared the body to a symphony. Explaining to the client that all of the sections of their body are like parts of an orchestra and work in absolute harmony. The section that is working with the medication does so and does so effectively but the clients sexual performance is unaffected and in fact functions exactly as intended etc...

I believe I came across this Technique in the Hammond book but I could be wrong (it was a while ago).
What is delayed ejaculation? It sounds like you have satisfactory sex and you find that on the way home, all of a sudden you ejaculate much to your surprise?

@ Bruce: I am not sure you are actually asking a question or whether you are making light of the problem.

Simply put, delayed ejaculation is the inability to ejaculate and can be equally or more frustrating than the inability to achieve and maintain an erection. It can be caused by a variety of reasons, often times it is a side effect of certain medications.
