Different ideas for client needing inspiration and motivation

I have a client who wants to get inspiration for what he should be doing as well as organized and get motivated to get doing it. I am a newbie practioner and have only a script from school for this type of thing and would like to hear some different ideas. He's coming in on Friday and I don't have any other specifics just yet.

Google "free procrastination scripts".
I believe to have seen some.
Other than that you'll have to find out why he is resisting to do what he wants/should be doing. Is it a life script issue? (In that case, his subconscious is sabotaging him and you should work on this.)
Is it just a temporary issue? Is he just plain lazy for everything? Is there secondary gain involved, so that if he changes his ways he loses something/someone?
Without a thorough understanding on his motivation to procrastinate, scripts won't help much.
Hi Emily,
I have clients who are musicians, actors, artists and others with poor motivation and organizational skills all the time.
I teach (outside of hypnosis) some practical time management/goal setting/task prioritizing techniques and use hypnosis to reinforce these as improved behavioural patterns. It often surprises me how many of them know nothing of how to manage even the most basic of schedules!
I'm doing a couple of talks on this at the Global Hypnosis Summit in March.
Please come check out my seminar!

I think he's discovering a spiritual side and is kind of questioning what he should be doing with his life. I have a script that will be okay for this. I just get nervous with each new client.
Hey Emily,
Have you used any metaphors?
If not, try using your intuition and write one out for this client.
May I suggest my favorite standard; a prince on a journey... asks advice from a trusted Uncle/Friend/Etc. and the Uncle/Friend/Etc.tells a story about fishing or hunting, etc...while hunting he may have had a conversation with God (or whoever his spiritual path follows) then bring the fishing etc back in, learning how to catch a particular type of fish, then end the journey knowing exactly what it was all about.... hope you get the picture..... I love looped metaphors!
Spend some discovery time exploring what this spiritual journey is all about for him. He'll likely tell you exactly what you need to cultivate in his journey.
Capitalize on that nervousness and get him to breathe with you to relax you and him (without letting them know you are nervous).
Breathe in deep through your nose and slowly out through your mouth, good! Now, in through your nose and hold it, hold it, and slowly out..... wonderful, once more....
Breathe and Have Fun

Emily,

I do much the same as Reg. Also, after they've described what they want, I ask this question: what keeps you from having that now? You will often get a great deal of helpful information about how to help them. For example, if they say, there's this voice in my head -- might need parts therapy. If they say, there's a heavy feeling in my chest... submodalities (NLP) and then future pace.

Just some early morning thoughts.

Maybe this post is a little late based on your dead line, but for good material, I suggest you to go to Tom Silver Web page (Member of this Forum) and look at his DVD section, the title I recommend is “Company & Corporate Hypnosis Success Motivational Training”. It’s really good to start. It gives you a lot of ideas in order to make your own scripts.
Thank you all for your responses. My session went very well and the client is rebooking for next week. This is my first client who doesn't have problems to work on, only enhancing life. I love that. It's such a refreshing break and also get's my wheels spinning on how to help someone enhance life, delve deeper into spirituality, etc.
I am not a liscensed practitioner, but I would imagine doing something like this:

1) Have the client remember a motivated state, or ask them what motivation would feel like. Once you get that...
2) Hypnotize them, and have them cycle this feeling over and over from where it starts to where it ends then cycle it back to the beginning. Do this until it feels nice and strong for them...then
3) "I'm wondering if you can imagine feeling this way in different parts of your life...etc...etc..."
Good suggestion, Antonio. I would even anchor that state at step #2, with a gesture or touch. Then I'd direct the client to imagine doing the things he or she wishes to be motivated to do, and then fire the anchor. Future pacing is also important in a case like this.

Emily, congrats on the rebooking! If you find yourself getting nervous with each new client, consider using some self-hypnosis to build your confidence. I made myself a hypnosis confidence recording that helped a lot.

Happy trancing,

James
Emily, your client may also benefit from the script I'm attaching.

(BTW, as I re-read it, I realized this script is very visual; now when I lead this process, I incorporate more kinesthetic and auditory sensations.)

Enjoy,

James

Congrats on the rebooking!
Ain't it Great!
Thanks for the script! I can't wait to try it. I love the idea of making a confidence CD for myself. I am starting Life Coaching this weekend and it's been helping as I feel more confident the more tools I get. Thanks!!!!
