I have just been reading another discussion in which one therapist mentioned that she does suggestibility and convincers because she feels that clients might have more of a reason to NOT go into hypnosis than to go into it.....this of course can be true....

My thinking is this: I expect my client to have a very deep, amazing experience where they are going to have change in their lives after even their first session with me.

Now, i know that i have only been doing this for a few months but this is the EXACT result my clients get. I do explain in the pre talk/relationship building time what hypnosis is and what it isn't and i also now have my own natural flowing induction where i put a lot of that also... i have added also that they will come back up out of hypnosis easily and effortlessly, after a few of my clients have gone so deep lately!

My question is this: Do we get what WE expect with our clients? If a hypnotherapist BELIEVES that their clients might have a part of them that will resist hypnosis for whatever reason, is that the exact result they get????

I'm finding I'm getting more of what i'm expecting more of the time and the client that is not what i'm expecting less of the time!

Have many of you found this?

Very interested in your thinking on this one....

Things are only as hard as you make them. I haven't found a person I haven't been able to hypnotize easily. I don't use convincers, or suggestabilty tests. They are fun here and there, but they are only as usefull as progressive relaxation. Model, alter state, follow with any induction and you can just ramble if you'd like they are already there it's just when you want them to go deeper now thats the question. They are hypnotized in seconds, or less that way once you got your end down.

Hi, Amber, Paul and Ricky-

Amber - Yes -- Our expectations and demeanor can and do influence clients whether we are aware of it or not

Paul - Excellent metaphor -- We are in rapport when we are vibrating with our clients in peace and ease.

Ricky- I found that catch phrase "altered state" could be off-putting to clients and potential clients so I started using "enhanced" state instead and in my opinion "enhanced" state is a more effective term for promoting what we do and to indicate we are working with our clients in a special "space"

Warmest regards,

me

Good point. Bernheim agreed so do I :) Is your energy theory 'Chinosis' simply a vehicle to deliver suggestions then? I thought it had something to do with Chi and/or meridian end points. Anthony

Hi Debbie: Unless the issues are related, or can somehow be linked without causing confusion, I think working on more than two issues at a time is risking that you might not address any of them adequately. At the least, use different sessions/days…

I had one several years back that seemed very legitimate...a quantity order from Indonesia. While I will not go into details, the bottom line is that I was cheated out of over $1000 of products for which I never received one dime. Roy Hunter
