If you are doing hypnosis over the phone please share how you do it how to go about doing it, what to watch out for, and what all can be done over the internet or phone
I will tell you what I know...

It is better and more personal than a recording.

It is limited, because you cannot touch and observe a person, to determine depth of relaxation.

You should use a web cam, or share photos, because a person wants to see who they are talking to.

You are perhaps limited to progressive relaxation.

Tell the subject to use earphones while you do the hypnosis.

It really DOES work, and I have seen other people have great results.

Also, there is a group on this site who use Skype for telephone hypnosis.

I am sure that they would be very glad to help you out.
You are not limited to progressive relaxation. Obviously, touching the client is not possible but there are loads of inductions that do not require touching. I've done phone sessions for years without a problem. The client doesn't have to use earphones if they have a speaker phone. I've even had some prop the phone up on pillows.I ask them to make sure they can hear the phone and my voice at all times. It's tougher than personal sessions because you cannot see skin color changes or pulse changes. Even Skype doesn't do a good job of that.

They give me their credit card number before the session begins. I do the in-take as usual. I record the hypnotic portion of the sesion as I am doing it (just like I would for a personal client) and mail it to them when the session is completed. It works well for most clients.
All you have to remember is that once the subject closes their eyes, they don't know if you are in the same room with them or not, as long as they can hear your voice. The over the phone/internet session has to be more interactive during the session. You have to ask questions and get answers from the subject how they are responding to your suggestions and what they are experiencing.

Just to prove to myself I could, I did an instantaneous induction over the internet last weekend, and it worked very well.
Web cams are nice, but not really necessary. I prefer to have the subject wear a headset instead of using speakers, but speakers will work if that's all they have.

The induction I normally use is the same one I have been touting for a while now, because it has the necessary verbal feedback built into it. Here is the link to it: http://www.hypnothoughts.com/forum/topics/716892:Topic:98342

I hope this helps
John
Thank you all for your advice :-)
Have any of you done any follow ups to see how the clients were doing? To see if in fact the session helped them?
Yes, of course. I don't typically do single session therapies. Some of my fibromyalgia clients have had a dozen phone sessions, others only a few. Obviously, if they were not getting the desired response they would not hang around for that many sessions and they certainly wouldn't refer family and friends. Ask Roger Moore about this. He has a group he works with over the phone.
