You couldn’t help it could you; you just had to open and take a peak. I wanted to find out what everyone thinks about the use of supposed negative words in trance which have historically been believed to be rejected by the subconscious mind. These words include don’t, wont, never, you will not etc.

The question is, did you click on the article because the word “don’t” made it interesting, or did your subconscious reject the suggestions and you interpreted it as “Read this post”.
I personally don’t hold much truth in the idea that our subconscious rejects negative affirmations, but actually becomes hyper aware of these words, and may stimulate some deeper childlike desire to investigate the opposite. But I think we have the choice, and our minds are linguistically smart enough to choose correctly, and may deny “don’t eat cake at night” because we really love cake at night, but will accept “don’t touch that gate, it’s electric and will kill you”, because, well, we want to live.

So maybe it is less about tricking the mind with words, and more about getting to the reason behind why you would want to eat the cake in the first place. What do you think about negative words / commands / suggestions in Hypnosis?

Oops! I rejected a negative suggestion. which is a double negative which equals positive. You told me not to Sean. that was a positive instruction to not do something.

Call me arguementative, but no river ever ran smooth.
