FAQ Mark working at HypnoThoughts headquarters

…Because we still aren’t satisfied. Yes, we have the fastest growing hypnosis community in the world. Yes, this site has been called the most valuable resource in all of hypnosis. Yes, we have had over 100 people join the site in the last week (again). Yes, in the last month alone we have had visits from 126 different countries. And of course, we have great contributions from so many people every single day I couldn’t possibly take the time to thank you all

For most people that would be enough. All that great progress just motivates me to work harder for you all and make this site even better. I’d like to give you all a quick heads up about exactly what that means for all of you.

As you could see in the picture, FAQ Mark is hard at work at HypnoThoughts headquarters, and we are testing some upgrades and new features that you will be excited about.

A Change in the Discussion Forum
This site gets around 1,000 visits and hundreds of new contributions every single day. Keeping this organized is a big job, and the moderators team does a great job helping do exactly that. One request that has been made is that we change the way we organize the replies in the discussion forum. Until now, you have been able to inject your reply anywhere in a discussion. If a topic had 30 replies and you disagreed with the 16th, you could reply to it and it would show up indented before number 17. That gets very confusing when you have over 100 replies to a discussion and it makes things very difficult to track.

From now on everything will go in chronological order. If you click on the “reply to this” link now it will quote that part of the discussion for you to directly reply to. This is how many online forums organize their conversations, and it will make sense as soon as you see it. If I get a lot of complaints I will consider changing it back, but I’m going to give it a few weeks for people to get used to it.

New Features are Coming
We asked, you answered, and we started building. The survey we sent out a few weeks ago asked what features you wanted, and we are going to do our best to give you guys what you wanted. We want to support more than just your online continued education, we want to help support your practice and financial well being. We have a few new applications that are going to (hopefully) help you do that.

We are going to be rolling out a new professional referral feature when we hit 4,000 members. It will allow you to search for a practitioner by location and specialty. You will be able to enter all your professional contact information including (but not limited to) your address, a description of your services, searchable meta tags and meta data, and a link to your website that will be highly searchable and indexed by Google.

I’ve been promising video conferencing for a while now, and like the chat, have played with a few options I haven’t been satisfied with. There are a few upgrades coming out in the next few months that I am eagerly anticipating and will launch when the behind the scenes testing deems them worthy. We have plenty more in store for all of you. I have no shortage of ideas, because as you can see, I get a lot of requests and feedback from all of you. Please keep them coming and we will see what we can build together.

Tons of Emails From The Hypnosis Community

Apparently so. (Hey, I like the pre-formatted stuff a lot!)

As you can see from Richard's excellent example, when you click "reply to this" you get a quote of the comment you are replying to in your comment. That can, of course, be deleted if you want. When you see the extra "code" that is included in the area where you type, you can just delete it or keep it as you wish.

Try it once or twice and it will make perfect sense.
IT does seem to work nicely

Hi:

I'd like to make the suggestion (and maybe it could be spread around a bit and encouraged) that especially with responding to longer posts, that only the relevant ideas to which you are responding be retained in the "quote" portion.
like this?

The only thing is I'm so used to bottom posting now, that top posting just looks really odd to me now! Call me "old school"

:o)
It is an excellent point. I 'm sure we can train folks.
