So tommorow is earth day, to me a day to plant a tree, pick up litter, make earth a better place to live for us and the millions of other animals and plants that we share earth with.
I've surfed some earth day sites that talk about the many way s we can improve our environment, how we can live healthier, live longer and ensure that our sons, daughters, grand kids ect can live the best quality of life possible.
Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in held on April 22, 1970 and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year. [2] Earth Day is celebrated in spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Many communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues. While the first Earth Day was focused entirely on the United States, an organization launched by Denis Hayes—the original national coordinator in 1970—took it international in 1990 and organized events in 141 nations.[3] [4] Earth Day is now observed each year on April 22 in virtually every country on Earth. Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network [5]. World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5 in a different nation every year, is the principal United Nations environmental observance.
I'd like to hear other peoples plans for earth day, ideas on how we can make our environment, our air, our earth a little better.
My son's and I will be planting a new tree in our yard, we will be cleaning up a neighbors yard. She has MS, is a little to old and doesn't get out much, so we made a trade with her. You supply the lemonade, we supply the clean up crew. I reallly feel we are getting the better part of the deal.
So what can we do and what are others doing globally to help?
Hoping you all Health and Happiness
Happy Earth Day
