Well done speakers, well done eSummit staff, well done attendees! Jumping into using new technologies early and often is exactly what brings those technologies to maturity.

To wrap the live portion of the conference, and three days of remote expo, I'm offering up my place in Second Life for a wrap-party tonight, 7pm-9pm PDT.

Background
Second Life is a MUVE - a Multi-User Virtual Environment, 3D world for business, entertainment, gaming, eCommerce, meetings and more. A basic Second Life account is free, and that free account can do anything except own virtual land. Hours in Second Life are free.

If you aren't in Second Life yet, this may or may not be the time to jump in. Many people report a learning curve of 4-8 hours just to learn how to operate their Avatar and navigate in the 3D world (there are a lot of controls). If you are tired or at all frazzled after this weekend, this probably isn't the time to take on yet another new technology. Second Life is more complicated than most of the 3D chat systems because it also lets you create new buildings, objects, clothes (a CAD style interface), script devices with a full programming language, and has a full eCommerce platform built-in.

But for all you that are already in Second Life, the party's at my place!

Very cool. I have an account in there and I might bring my fiance along. We play in SL from time to time (actually kinda how we met in the first place, lol). I'll definitely show up. What's your avatar's name? Mine is Jash Cale, though I may use an alt; not sure yet at this point.

Joshua
Mine's Kalisten VanDornan. :)
Well, it was just the two of us last night, but we had fun. We chatted for a bit, some about the conference, some about ourselves, then watched some YouTube hypnosis videos of mine, with me giving "DVD commentary." It wrapped up around 10 pm Pacific, then Katin had to leave, and I hung around for a bit before leaving myself.

It was very refreshing to see and talk to a hypnotist on SL who was a regular hypnotist, rather than the normal BDSM/slavery/erotic stuff that's the norm in there. Not that I'm saying anything's wrong with that; some of my friends are hypnotists in that lifestyle. It's just that there's a dearth of good non-erotic hypnosis.

Maybe we should think about changing that. ;)

I sure had a good time in-world watching your YouTube vids and hearing the behind-the-scenes skinny. Also, much appreciation for letting me show you around my building. :)

Yep, definitely a huge gap-opportunity for hypnotherapists in Second Life on two fronts:

1) to discover the younger generation's modern myths and "hollywood beliefs" around hypnosis - they act that out in Second Life with products, groups and activities; and

2) to bring real hypnosis services, information and products to the 10-million-people-and-growing audience in Second Life. Though the Second Life economy is based on 'micro-payments', an average of $1.5 million US dollars are spent in-world every *day*.

I'm building a place where people can get a real induction played (via MP3 streaming) while they are in-world. I have a couple of FAQ Kiosks about hypnotherapy available to people, but I need to build a couple more.

If anyone would like to join the effort, just let me know! I'd be happy to suggest fun and useful projects for you & your avatar.

PS - I'm leaving the eSummit Virtual Lounge in Second Life in place for the next two weeks as well; anyone is welcomed to go enjoy it. Monty (61,168,67) Cheers!
