I have never done a 'Hypnosis' stage show.

The nearest I came to that was a spoof Voodoo doll sketch, with a conferate, in the audience, who knew exactly what I wanted of him. It went well, as a five minute act in a cabaret, in front of about sixty people who I had spent a week with, on holiday.

So I have complete admiration for you, taking this brave step!.

When does it happen?

However it goes, it will be a great learning experience, from which you will go from strength to strength.

The dry throat etc is relatively normal. and healthy.

Keep breathing. and drink plenty of water.

I will be sending you lots of encouraging success thoughts.

Love and hugs,

Fable
Thanks a million Fable :) always helps with the success thoughts, chemistry tomorrow lol, mind giving me a session for tomz ;-) lol

Eternal Smiles,
i remember my first show, and loved every minute.
i thought id be nervous, but it was totally the opposite.

one key i found, was to use an anchor to associate with, just for stage shows.
either be it a new aftershave, shirt or something else (i use an ear plug with 'the' spiral on it).
this way, each time you go on stage, its not just Leo Gopal,
but Leo 'the hypnotist'...if you get me.
then when you've finished, remove whatever it is, and go back to your everyday persona.

and most importantly..SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY !!!
not just for your volunteers, but you as well.
No! -- No! don't make me come back there Leo!

Your sweaty palms, your dry throat and the sensations that you are feeling is the EXCITEMENT oF doing your first show - And it it blessing to feel that way before every show -- Enjoy it!

I did my first show just a few weeks back. It was an interesting setup, same group of people were together all weekend, they wanted a mini-show friday night, and a longer show on saturday. the mini on friday was my true first show. i learned something huge from the difference between the two. on friday, they had been involved in a more quiet atmosphere, it had been a more serious day than the fun day they had on saturday. of about 8 volunteers i had to sit 3 down part way into the show because they did not enter trance and just weren't getting into it. the other 5 did well, they played out the skits i has prepared, but their energy level was pretty low. on saturday, i felt a little more confident having the first show 'under my belt' so to speak, so A) i was a little more loose but mostly B) i worked the crowd a little more than friday. had 10 i think volunteer on saturday and i didin't have to sit any of them down. following the induction i made two or three opportunities for the audience to scream and applaud HARD for my subjects on stage after suggesting that when they heard the audience they would go deeper into trance AND they would be assured that they were doing an amazing job and would enjoy it even more. i believe that subtle difference made saturday's show 10 times better. they didn't just perform during the skits, but they really got into it. sitting in classes, reading books, and watching videos didn't really teach me how much the atmosphere that I CREATE helps them get into the show until i actually saw the difference.

i know i'm not very experienced, but maybe that's one tip i could pass along from what i learned. such a simple thing, create an energetic environment for them, and they'll be energetic for you. let them know the audience LOVES them, and use direct suggestion to make that even more powerful and they'll really get into it for you. as soon as you see them responding and the audience starts laughing and applauding you won't even remember the sweaty palms, you'll be having so much fun you won't want to stop.

good luck on your show, sounds like you're prepared, you're gonna do great!
Leo,

I'm sure you will do great. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Be sure to have your show very clearly spelled out and know exactly where you are going. In the end you will probably find it far easier than you could have ever imagined and you will be smiling big and wide on the way home -- remarking to yourself about how easy it was!

However I do have to warn you; hypnosis shows are addicting! :)

Have a great show!

Geoff Ronning
Geoff,
I am not too far away from being able to do my own first show. I originally bought your stage course a couple years ago just to compare to what was I taught in my hypnotherapy training. Just wanted to say that your course was very complete and I am finding the information very useful, especially the show construction and business end of it.

Take care and say hi to Wendi for me
John
I just wanted to say congratz and you will do great Leo. Just remember to have fun and entertain the crowd :)

We'll catch up soon
Josh
What skits have you got in mind mate? Are you going to video it? You shoul, not just to post for us, your friends but for you to critique yourself and learn from it. As a professional musician, I know that the only way we improve is to hear/see what we do from the perspective of the punters. It will do you good in the long run and you'll be able to see what bits you liked and what you need to work on.

Good luck mate!
also video whatever you do for insurance purposes,
in case someone tries to sue, you've covered your arse.
I'd wish you all the luck but we know luck has nothing to do with it, I know you will do fantastic and I for one can't wait to hear all about how it went.

Bonnie
Ahh yeh, about the insurance, how do i get that?
