the United States;

(d) Licensed by the Commission for Independent Education pursuant to
ss. 1005.01-1005.38 or exempt from licensure pursuant to chapter

(e) A religious seminary, institute, college, or university which
offers only educational programs that prepare students for a
religious vocation, career, occupation, profession, or lifework, and
the nomenclature of whose certificates, diplomas, or degrees clearly
identifies the religious character of the educational program.

(2) No person awarded a doctorate degree from an institution not
listed in subsection (1) shall claim in the state, either orally or
in writing, the title "dr." before the person's name or any mark,
appellation, or series of letters, numbers, or words, such as, but
not limited to, "Ph.D.," "Ed.D.," "D.N.," or "D.Th.," which

completion of the requirements of a doctorate degree, after the
person's name.

subsection (2) commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable
as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

Hi Jerry:
This is very kind of you to bring this awareness to those who are using non-accredited degrees so they may stop using them before any kind of legal repercussions or penalties are assessed.
You're a great guy!
Karen
Thanks Karen. Just trying to keep the folks out of trouble.
Jerry
Gerald,
Thank you.

This is a good. Many pose as someone or something they are not (which is fraud).

Good Morning Gerald, Thanks for making us aware of this law, good of you to keep us updated.
Saw you at the NGH Solid Gold Weekend in Vegas. As always very enjoyable and educational.

Thank you Mr. Kein for this post.

I have my own personal policy regarding these titles, which are all B.S. degrees in my mind. I immediately discount or ignore anything said or written by someone who uses these titles. Because they indicate either a high degree of self-delusion, or a tendency towards intentional deception, or both.

I once watched an NGH convention video of someone who kept referring to herself as a "doctor", because she had a DCH. I stopped the video halfway through because I could no longer take anything she was saying seriously.
Search the US Dept. of Ed. data base for accredited outfits... it may be a little more permissive than I thought at first:

Not only legal trouble... but media love to "gotcha" and expose fraud:

Forget "The Mentalist" and Hollywood or stage-hypnotist portrayals (that stuff in fact raises interest)... this fake diploma stuff does more real damage than all that combined. What could have been a decent report on hypnosis instead is about how some hypnotists use fake diplomas to deceive the public. Sad but true.

Note the "surprised" expression from the good Doctor when he finds out that his "university" was shut down by the FBI in the 1990's. Wow, they must have had some great alumni programs! Even lamer proof of the validity of credentials: "I have so many certifications listed on my website... and look, my thesis is really thick!"
