HypnoThoughts.com

the Free Hypnosis Social Network

Okay, so I know this isn't exactly hypnosis-related, but it is or could be marketing-related. Google+ launched recently and is in semi-limited beta. I got in and so far am liking it, in large part because of the ease of filtering all the data coming in ... or going out.

With the use of "circles," I can send something out only to friends, only to clients, only to colleagues, etc. And I can easily switch between reading what my writing friends are posting and reading what my hypnosis friends are posting. It has some other features I like as well, but the big one is the getting a handle on the data overload.

So ... how many of you are on it already? How many want to be on it but can't get in at present? Who thinks it's a good idea from Google? Bad idea?

I am on Google+ and I like it so far. I agree that the filtering and security offered by "circles" is a bonus and certainly better than facebook. Early days yet as it is only in beta and few people have access but it has the potential to correct some of the flaws in facebook. (invites available!)

Thanks, John. I also have invites and whatnot, but I didn't want to necessarily turn this into a "get your invite!" thread. Or a blatant "here's my profile!" thread. ;)

That said, if anyone wants either of those, feel free to ask. :D

The other thing I can see being really useful about it is the Hangout feature. Basically group video chat. Think those of us who are into online/Skype hypnosis could get some use out of that? I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I've heard it's easier and accommodates a few more people per session than Skype does.

Hit me up on Google+

I have always hated FB

Can;t wait to see it go the way of Friendster...

As a geek I have to say that google+ should have been called google+++++.  It was rough for me to get used to for about 15 minutes because my mind was stuck on the FB format.  Circles are just like FB groups, just easier to understand, post to and to keep order.  I was happy about there being no games but it is rumored that a games section will be added later.

What I am really excited about are the hangouts.  It is a great free video chat for groups.  I wonder if you gurus (non-hobiests/infant like me) who are talking about products and marketing can use that as a platform for teaching an introductory class or even a paid one.  Perhaps in conjunction with this free online wipe board (http://www.scriblink.com/).  I guess I am just brainstorming at this point.

   Hi Joshua

I use google mail and have been keeping an eye on google+. I hate Facebook but must use it for work. Social networks other than HT have never appealed to me. I like the features you mentioned and may give it a try when I have an opportunity.

Thanks for the information,

Lisa

Joe, I've been thinking along those lines, definitely. I'm unfortunately limited by the day job as to when I could do something like that, but I would like to at some point. In fact, due to the nature of how the circles work, I could tie G+ right into a membership program or online class where only my current (and/or past) students can see the hangouts. So it could be turned into a weekly coaching thing or something like that.

Glad to provide the information, Lisa. I'm liking it so far, especially how involved the Google engineers and developers are. There's one project going on that I'm interested in (not directly hypnosis-related): sign language and hangouts. Hangouts currently work by switching focus to the lead speaker in the conversation (by the relative volume of their speech, iirc). When you have Deaf people chatting, however, that doesn't work quite as well. So they're enlisting people to help improve hangouts for Deaf people.

Unless somebody can add me its a limited trial that Google will not allow me to join.

Please add me as well. I tried to get on, they told me the same. It has exceeded. So, unless someone add. Thanks.

If you haven't been added by the time I get home, I'll add you. Haven't been able to do it from my phone yet, and I won't be home till about 6 pm my time.
