I have been invited to provide a smoking cessation program proposal to a hospital. This would be for a group. I'm planning on a 3-session program to include a reinforcement CD and a $10 coupon for a 1x1 session if desired. I'd love to hear your pointers and suggestions as to what to include in my packet.

Great project! I would structure it as follows:

Session ONE: They quit today, in one session.
Session TWO: 48 hours later... follow up with suggestions for managing weight and empowering those who were successful. Reframe failure as a learning experience, hammer them with additonal suggestions focused on the learning experience and teaching skills for managing withdrawl. Isolate those who need 1:1 help and give them a special discount on 1:1 or reinforcement CD, or incorporate addional interventions like NRT...
Session THREE: 2 weeks later....

This is a SUPER brief summary of my approach
Thanks, Richard. I appreciate your input.

Hoping to hear from others as well!

Kathy
It sounds very interesting, especially working with a group. That would be cool for all the members to encourage and help each other through the quitting process. What's your strategy going to be for the actual cessation program? What do you want to accomplish in each session? How many people are in the group?
Hi Kathy,
I like the CD idea... so that the client can reinforce and affirm occasionally. I also think a consultation would be good to offer so that the client can ask anything and you can build rapport before the first session.
I was wondering if you were sharing any of these tips you have on smoking cessation. I have a client coming Wed. 28th and I am preparing for this...her issue is with Brochitis attacks and she said she quit once for about 8 or 9 months but then started up again. I would really love to help her out for good...maybe you have the missing link.
Thanks,
Deborah
