For the last couple of days the group section on the left has not been updating as new posts are made.  I am wondering if this is a problem on my end or if others are having the same issue.

I'm literally sitting in the headquarters of the company that created the platform. Ill look into it and if I find any problems ill ask the engineers. I haven't been monitoring the site while I've been here. If people are noticing this, please say so here.

Thanks,
Scott
Never mind. It was a setting that was switched.

It should be fine, but I'm not sure because I'm doing this from my phone in a meeting.
Thanks Scott. It is working fine now. I am glad that it was not just me.

I noticed it last night also, but all seems good now :)
It seems that the setting may have been switched again.
yep seems screwed up again
I had no idea this was an important feature for some folks. I occasionally switch the setting from "latest activity" to "most recently created" or "most members" just for grins and giggles and to give different groups exposure.

I'm now curious... what is the advantage to having it update to the latest activity?

Richard,

For me it is because I like to read the new posts. If there is a thread in the main forum that gets a lot of posts, the “Latest Activity” section on the right fills up with notifications for it and it makes it harder to see what groups have new posts.

As Richard said above, this isn't a bug, it's a setting. We like to mix things up to create more exposure and variety for people. That said, it stays on "latest activity" more than it does anything else. If you go to the groups page you will see there are a few options that you can use to browse by the criteria of your choice.

Too bad there is not a "most active" setting. A lot of LARGE groups are unmoderated and older gorups that nobody seems to use.

I can see how most recently created is useful for new groups.

As for gorups, I did not use them much the first year or two. I have tried to make my ICBCH group the most productive and active in recent months :)

Groups have really taken off in the last few months. We've seem to have hit a size where they are more needed. It's interesting to see.

Good news, by the way. The default setting on the groups main page is "most active" and I'm going to be working on putting together a leaderboard of most popular posts, groups, blogs, etc. every week.

That should help get the groups the attention they deserve.

Talk to you soon,
Scott
