Hello!

Our health insurance carrier is leaving Texas.  So, my hubby and I are in the market for independent health insurance for just the two of us.  I've heard about Marsh Affinity Group Services.  Does anyone use that one?

Also just interested in if you like your health insurance company, the rates, name of it etc.

Would love to hear your recommendations.

Thanks! Celeste

I also am interested in the answer(s) to this question. If my practice takes off and I can turn it back into a business (or if I end up going a different route and contracting for writing services), I'll need health insurance for my wife and child.

Insurance companies, unfortunately, are not allowed to cross State lines. So if you have BlueCross/Blue Shield in Pennsylvania, for example, it's different than the one in New Jersey. I've heard that Chambers of Commerce sometimes provide "small-group" insurance policies for a couple of people. If you have an extensive list of correspondents on Facebook, you might ask there. (It's amazing how many people know other people who know other people, etc. . . .) But it won't be cheap, especially if you are physically or "chronologically" handicapped (i.e., older than anyone who is probably not going to need insurance anyway), you'll have to pay plenty. Since I "retired," my wife and I have to pay $11,000 per year for health insurance, with medicare included  --  which is why they will have to carry me out of this practice feet first!
