I have recently started recording my sessions and copying them for the client before they leave.

So far I have had one CD recording work and one that did not work.

I am using Audacity to record.  I have exported my recordings and saved them during the export as a wav. file and also as a mp3 file.  I gave the client a copy of both, neither was playable on her brand new CD player of her car radio player.

I burned the Cd two different way I gave her a disc with the mp3 burned through MS media player and also buned frome the place that the files were save.

I have it set up so that the info burned should be able to play either with a CD or computer.

I don't have a lot of computer knowledge but I thought I knew how to burn a CD.

Helpppppppppppp!

Thank you all for the help and info.  I will sift through all this and see if I come up with an answer.

What is a data disc? Is that the same as an MP3 disc?

Yes. A data CD or DVD is a disc that contains data files, including, but not limited to, WMA files, MP3 files, WMV files, and most other types of computer files. However, while most computers do support reading and accessing files from data discs, most stand-alone CD and DVD players do not support playback of data CD or DVD discs. Check your stand-alone disc player's documentation for details.

I have a something good to report.   I tried everything I could and decided as a last resort to try a different brand of CD.

I was using a memorex CD mainly because it was what was available.  I went out and got a Sony disc.  I  burned the disc the same as always and had success.  I now have a disc that will play on a portable CD player.

Thanks for everyone's input.   I am thankful.  All your info helped me eliminate everything until I came to the conclusion that it was a brand problem.

Congrats Chris.  Great job troubleshooting!

Chris, (and everyone else)

Stop trying to burn CD's.  I gave up on that idea 2 years ago.  It takes up way too much of your valuable time and as you can see by this thread, is loaded with problems.

Instead, use audacity (or whatever) to make .mp3's and then send them to the client via email using Yousendit.com

CDs are a thing of the past.  People can listen to .mp3s on their computer or put them on their .mp3 player or cellphone very easily.  All of my clients are very grateful for this "extra" service I give them.

This may be hard to believe but where I live people are not into technology.  I don't know if it is because of the expense, the demographics or just that people are just really laid back.  my clients want a recording.  I would gladly provide them with what ever format they desire.  So far that format has been a CD.
