I've got a friend who turns red in the face when he's embarrassed. He wasn't always this way, it sort of came on in his early 20's and now near 30 it's stuck with him. He's self conscious of the face turning red and says that this is the biggest reason for it happening. It will happen when an attractive girl or something walks into the room. He'll immediately think "oh no, i'm going to turn red..." and then he does and he becomes embarrassed and it escalates. A sort of unconscious pattern and bind I suppose.

Any suggestions on how to work with this? It's informal and he's my friend. He's asked me twice now if I would "try" seeing if the hypnosis will help him. My first step will be to reframe from "try" to do, so I'll need a believable story.

I'm not a hypnotherapist...most of my hypnosis interest is in conversational, persuasion and suggestion for entertainment. However, I do like helping people and people are normally very comfortable around me.

Ideas on technique, content and especially experience would be much appreciated!

Hi,
Personally, I would recommend that he use someone trained in hypnotherapy techniques. No offense, but outlining how to conduct behavior changes to someone who hasn't been taugh how to use them before so they can use them on someone else is not a good idea.

That being said; What you are dealing with is a learned behavior/reaction by the subconscious. However, it is just a symptom of the issue that creates the effect, the blush is just how the subconscious has learned to react to it.

Personally, I would regress him to the ISE (Initial Sensitizing Event) and change the outcome of it to a more positive outcome and modify/remove the learning so he doesn't react that way to it anymore. Then possibly a meeting of the minds, or parts party, as it is called to establish a different behavior depending on what the real issues are.

Hope that helps you
John
Thanks for this guys. Some good insight. I'll start with just talking to him consciously to do some more investigation and then decide whether or not I want to pursue trancework or recommend he see a pro. Such a recommendation could be a good reframe in itself. "This is common and there's a common foolproof solution, I just haven't been trained in it..."
Thanks for this post//Thanks Adrian for the post nicely said.....
