Has anyone gotten involved with the Hypno-Band system? If so, would you recommend it?

Hi George,
I got it too in January, I have seen 2 clients with good results now I am waiting for the last session in 3 weeks
but it seems to proceed pretty well. About recommending it, if you want to have one more tool for weight reduction I would recommend it, John Maclean did a god job there is a hypno-band forum where all the practitioners share their experience, good support etc etc.
my 2 cents
Cheers
Hi George
We have been using it since September 2009. We were already working successfully with weight loss through group work and 1-2-1 and this added an excellent tool, especially as some people see it as the only way they can lose weight. advertising it got a lot more weight loss clients and although some did not need the band they went ahead for weight loss anyway. It is proving more successful than having the Gastric-band fitted as we deal with their eating habits and reasons for having the weight most of which were emotional. Those having the Hypno-Band fitted cannot physically eat as much as they feel full very quickly. And as Michael said there is great support from John and those of us already using it. Yes I would recommend it.

What is Hyono-Band?...Where do you get it?
Hello George,

I just started my first client with a hypno-band. She has reduced weight by 4 lbs prior to even having the band "installed". It is a good protocol which I, like others who have commented, have merged into my usual weight loss program. Just one more tool that may be appropriate for certain clients.

Best wishes,

Kelley
I am interested in where you learned this technique. Is it a home study program or online instruction or what?

I just got it and have started using it, one client has lost 5 pounds in about 8 days and she stated her stomach feels tighter than before. I've also incorporated and added my own stuff and found others in the community to partner with.

Hi Carol and Chris,

John Maclean has a site where you can get more info: www.hypnoband.com

Another note: As some may have heard, consumers desiring a gastric lap band surgery are sometimes turned down by their insurance companies (the surgery can cost up to $20,000) because they don't weigh ENOUGH! You can imagine the message that is giving. The hypnotic version of a lap band is appropriate for people who want to reduce by 30, 50 or more pounds.

Hi Kelly and Jaqi

This is an interesting subject that I would like to learn more about so that I could help people who want to lose weight and improve their quality of life. I believe that most eating disorders and weight problems stem from something that the person encountered in life to make them eat more and gain the weight. I have noticed that most of the time these people have low self esteme problems. Any thoughts?
Hi Colin
In my experience some emotional eating comes from a happy time with an aunt or family member where there is food involved which creates a feel good factor. When other situations kick in and people feel low or bored or lonely they eat subconsciously trying to recreate that happy feeling, dealing with these emotions and the habits that stem from them, changes eating habits. Some overweight issues are not from food but emotional, ie the fat is a "protection" mechanism stemming from abuse and other variables, we have worked with emotional issues and they lost weight as a by product, there was no change in eating habits and we weren't working on weight. There was a study broadcast by ;

The BBC has just reported on a long term study carried out over a 20 year period. Basically it shows that emotional/psychological problems can lead to obesity. So why is this important? Well many doctors insist that obesity is caused by a metabolic disorder. This study demonstrates that this is not necessarily the case and therefore psychological interventions are useful. See article below.

Hi Peter and Lorraine,
I'm curious about your results and your reasons for this. Why won't you put the band in if they haven't lost weight prior to installation? And what do you do instead? Do you stop working with the client because they haven't lost weight? do you continue working with them to resolve their emotion related problems? How long do you continue working with them for this without apparent weight loss before you tell them of other options?

Thanks,

Marc

I have been using the hypnoband system with some, having some good results. For me it was abut having something else a little unique to offer. although was having good results prior to having it as well.

2 reasonably recent clients, the first, my scales were broken so the first 2 weighs by me were not accurate, but my last email from him as he was returning home to the other side of the world was that the inches were continuing to slowly but surely come down, (he had been hitting the alcohol, lapping up the last days before he returned home, end even despite such, his report was that he was still losing!!.) Luckily i place a greater emphasis on measurements than scales...
the second client, first 2 weeks 5 Kgs...
The actual system i found personally a little difficult to implement not through any flaw in the system more so that, my learning as a therapist were in an unscripted ericksonian sense.. so then actually reading something as a delivery was essentially quite unnatural to me... and yet the results speak for themselves..i guess now i could almost recite it word for word, so i am more comfortable in getting back and being present with the client, and weaving and referencing seedings as well as the HB component...

On the other hand one of the things that works your favour, is the positive expectancy of having such a system.

Hi, thanks for this discussion. I have tried doing this on my own making it up as I went along having seen a brief demo on a current affairs program. No success but maybe thats because the 2 people did not come back for other sessions and I realize I need to offer some other things to help support and reinforce. But.... Does anyone know if there is an online training or a "how to" manual that can be purchased? Thanks so much in advance for ideas. ( currently I use the HMI 8 week training course but get very few takers -most people appear to want instant quick fixes!). Cheers Adrienne
