The use of lasers on the skin seems to be hypnotic:

By stimulating endorphins when the pulsating light is absorbed by the skin and cells at
acupressure points, LaserCare
treatments eliminate the urge to smoke, boosts fat-burning metabolism,
and helps relieve stress.

Is anyone using the hypnotic version?  Light moving over the skin, just feel it. Warm, tingling,...... I think that it would be easier than the hypno-band.

Walt, some years back Scott Giles at the NGH convention mentioned that he did a form of "hypno-acupuncture" with his medical hypnotism clients. As I recall he would use a laser pointer to show the client where an acupuncture point that was relevant to his or her condition during the pre-talk and then he would have them imagine that point being stimulated during the hypnosis session. Jim
James,

Seems powerful, was it?

One could even do it with eyes open trance!

Laser light goes right through the clothes.

Pain relief! Stop smoking. Melt away fat. Turn up the metabolism.

Hey Walt and James,

My guess is that the lasers are an active placebo. The highly concentrated light on the skin probably is producing the release of some endorphins and suggestion and expectations are producing more endorphins --

I have been teaching Pain Relief clients how to concentrate their attention like a laser beam. The suggestion is that focusing their laser-like attention on acupressure points automatically stimulates the production of natural pain -killers.

I think you could easily adapt the idea for smoking ceasation and weight loss...

Michael E,
Ian,.

Right!

For the hypno-laser a flashlight would work!

I remember having my feet x-rayed when I went to get new shoes. Must have been a fluoroscope. Ouch!

Those sloppy days are not past!

Get cancer?

Do you remember when 'sun-beds' where the way forward? Put them in the hands of the ill-informed, and they have caused some serious damage. Banned in a lot of places in the UK, now ...

Only food for thought ....

I am going to vote with Micheal on this ... It;s an active Placebo! My Niece had it done a while back for a smoking problem. She sat there on the chassis lounge puffing away on her cigerrete and described to me the way they found the exact spot on her earlobe to clip the laser diode on. She said she didn't feel anything but stoped smoking immediately. Of course that was then and this was now. Funny thing about those active placebos... They might work better if the person using them understood waking hypnosis and had a patter that might break the association between smoking and the particular pleasure state that triggered smoking behavior. My Niece is a non smoker now, but not because of the magic pulsing light.
Walt ... you forgot to add cures baldness ,, raises the dead ,, and parts the Red Sea to your list of Benefits.

All a bit short term and only dealing with the symptom. The gastric band is successful, however having worked with a nutritionist and a couple of people working with those who have had the band fitted, I've heard stories of them trying to override the band causing self harm in some cases with the band slipping, liquidised Mars bars etc. We deal with the reasons for eating before the hypno-band is fitted as we do with any weight loss work and so is a long term solution. Smoking may be a different matter depending on how much the client wants to stop, which again involve the mental bit of habitual, emotional reasons for smoking, and would more than likely need to dealt with for a long term effect.
