I am a diabetic and also a cht. Does Hypnosis really work to help with the sugar cravings and other problems associated with Diabetes? Please explain how it really works? Another question, where would I go as a cht to get someone to hypnotize me for this problem?
Hello. You can go to a therapist that takes clients online and do webcam sessions if you don't know of anyone locally. I have been working with Doreen (she's a frequent poster on the site). She has been very helpful to me. Hypnosis helps to modify your behaviors and help with cravings. I have always been a hard core sugar addict. Over the last two months, I have been craving healthier foods and way less sugar. My very first step was to swap white sugar for brown or raw sugar or honey. I also started using Stevia which has no calories, but I don't like the taste. For Stevia I use a sprinkle of that and then brown or raw sugar or honey. I also did a master cleanse for one day hoping that would help with the sugar cravings. Instead it completely eliminated any cravings for meat. I never ever for one second considered giving up meat, but I just don't want it anymore. It's weird how it's all worked out. So, the short answer for you is YES it works. Give it a go!!
Hypnosis does work...
One way hypnosis can work is to help you move toward a healthy diet.
Many people who crave sugar are also the same people who crave carbohydrates.
The way I use hypnosis is by helping the person to see themselves as healthy, surrounding themselves with healthy choices, motivation to read health related books, and in general - become aware of what they are doing to their bodies.
We ARE our food choices. If we have a hard time making decisions, lay around all day with no energy, have bad skin, yeast, and nearly every other organ problem you can think of - it can all be linked back to the food we eat.
Become aware that they have not been in control of their choices. They have let society dictate to them what is healthy and what isn't - for their own businesses monitary gain. It is time to take back that control (by noticing what these outside influences are doing) and make 'good' choices. Sane choices.
ARE YOU INSANE??? ~grin.
I always get a good chuckle when I hear one of my friends (who ignores ingredients) comment on people walking by with a cigarette.
Both....are altering their quality and quantity of life.
Hypnosis and education does work, to
light a fire under their ***....
and then watch the flame grow...
it is awesome!
For a cht, you seem to have a low opinion of hypnosis!
I will not do the therapy with you, but I will describe the general approach...
After achieving true somnambulism, I could make a suggestion to your tongue, so that the sweet taste of sugar is replaced by the beautiful blend of 12 year old scotch and the Greek beverage called ouzo.
I could maybe talk about childhood memories, like the game your mother played, as she was teaching you to count with the story about the little piggies and your toes....
It would not take long until it was VERY REAL memory.
Then they cry, because they DON'T WANT to lose their toes!
I am not an expert about diabetes, but I know that the worst part is that a person can lose fingers and toes, and sometimes a whole foot.
For who to help you, I would just look at your own friends on the forum, and possibly consider my friends as well.
Telephone hypnosis can be VERY effective, especially if you have already chatted on ICQ or Skye, to see if you are compatible with the operator.
PS - If you can truly remember the rhyme about your toes, I just helped you for free...

Dear Being,
Please be aware that there are many hypnotists who have the magical power to make people believe all sorts of things. They are called stage hypnotists.
Now, if hypnosis were real, then there wouldn't be any problem in getting them to have you believe things too.
Like, cravings are a belief. Aren't they?
At the time you really believe you want it. Don't you?
Rather than checking out a hypnotist's written or verbal credentials, get one that says "you will be fixed".
If a friendly hypnotist wants to give you some free help, then cool.
If the hypnotist wants cash and leaves the onus of change on you, then why go to him/her?
After all, you're not the one claiming to be able to have essentially extra-special skills/gifts, are you?
Now the funny thing is, you and most others got into hypnosis because of a belief.
The belief WAS "hypnosis" is to some degree magical.
How many times will you have to be disapointed before you find that magical therapist?
Rather than find out the hard way, ask the hypnotist for a guarantee. They always seem too happy to advertise all sorts of promises and hypnotic qualifications; but you may be begining to find yourself being sure enough to be unsure!
As any kind of human in search of fulfiling a need, you are vulneralbe right now.
The degree of vulnerability is related to the level of desire to solve the problem.
There are many wolves out there.
I suppose it is a good job you came to this site.
At the very least, there must be at least one person here who can help you!
In answer to your many questions, remember what my grandmother used to say, "I don't care how many times you say you done it; have you done it properly"?
Hi Susan, I was diagnosed many years ago as a type II adult onset diabetic, I now weigh 45# less than I did then. I eat very differently and I make intelligent food choices, I have not been on Medication for 5 years now. There are a number of wonderful resources available particularly if you understand hypnosis, I'll give you two that really helped me ,,, Mark Cunningham's Choosing perfect health CD (web site Trucor.com) and Gerry Kein's Video on hypnosis and Diabetes.(Omni Hypnosis) The rest of it is education education education, add me as a friend and I'll send you a couple of good web sites to start with,
I'll give you some other food for thought also ... Words are more powerful than you can imagine. When you say something like "I am a diabetic" thats affirmation that your identidy is Ms Diabetic. I would rather hear you say I have a blood sugar issue and am in the process of dealing with it,
Hello Susan, I have compassion with your situation of being diabitic, it's seems to be an epidemic here in the U.S. Not to get of track here, but I thought that it would a good thing to be up the NUTRITIONAL factor in this equation. The nutritional protocol that I have looked into that has the best sucess by far is under the diet suggested by Gary Null.
Along with this I would suggest utilizing his protocol anlong with N.L.P. with a Hypnotherapist that is astute in that modality.
~Take care & best wishes
This is what I found regarding your question I hope it clarifiy.
I can Hypnotize you when I have time and we are both on. I'll do do it willingly no problem for a collegue.
Cheers Michael
Here it is:
Hypnosis Can Help Diabetics
Hypnosis can help diabetics to dramatically improve their condition. Learn a hypnosis technique in this article.
Hypnosis. For many, the word conjures up images that make a person uncomfortable. Many fear hypnosis because they fear a loss of control, yet a person is actually more in control of their body when he or she is in a state of trance.
This fact should interest people with diabetes, because control is exactly the issue that concerns them: controlling blood sugar levels.
Hypnosis can help diabetics to dramatically improve their condition. Learn a hypnosis technique in the following article by Devin Hastings, founder of the Diabetes Research Association of American and owner of MindBody Hypnosis.
Hypnosis has been a medically recognized phenomenon for well over four decades. In 1958, the American Medical Association and the American Dental Association made resolutions recognizing hypnosis as an accepted form of treatment in medicine and dentistry.
This was three years after the British Medical Association passed a formal resolution approving hypnosis as a valid therapeutic technique for treating neuroses and for relieving pain in surgery and childbirth.
One example of hypnosis helping people with diabetes is that it can change their insulin requirements and sometimes eliminate them. This is illustrated in a case study found in the book, Mind-Body Therapy, by Ernest L. Rossi, PhD and David B. Cheek, M.D.
In this book is an amazing story about a 33-year-old patient with insulin dependent diabetes who was pregnant. She was in the hospital because she and her doctors were considering ending the pregnancy because of severe toxemia and two diabetes induced comas that had occurred in her previous pregnancy.
Dr. Cheek, talked with the patient and her husband about using hypnosis to control pain and thus control her insulin needs. Upon her agreement, the patient was then trained to use hypnosis to achieve complete abdominal anesthesia.
She was also trained to be able to awaken from trance to respond to doctors or nurses questions so that they did not think she was in a diabetic coma.
Here's where it gets more interesting: "On admission to the hospital she was taking 180 units of insulin a day, using 60 units of protamine zinc, and filling out her requirements with Regular insulin. The response to the surgery was remarkable. She maintained a normal temperature, pulse, and respiration after a total hysterectomy under spinal anesthesia. Her blood sugar never went over 117 mg. / 100 cc. although she was eating a regular hospital diet from the day of surgery."
But it gets even more fascinating: "No insulin was used during the hospital stay. During the next 11 months, she used only an occasional dose of insulin during periods of emotional stress."
Please understand very clearly that this is an exceptional case that is discussed only so that the door can be opened to the possible benefits of hypnosis for diabetics.
Now, let's look some of the ways that any person with diabetes can absolutely benefit from hypnosis.
I discovered that there are 7 ways in which hypnosis can powerfully help.
I will discuss a couple in this article by starting with this question: What are some of the areas that cause problems for diabetics?
First and foremost of course is diet and exercise. Hypnosis has a long history of helping people to attain and maintain an ideal and healthy weight.
In other words, among many benefits, hypnosis can help the diabetic to more easily comply with the recommendations of their doctor. In their book, Clinical Hypnosis: Principles and Applications, doctors Harold B. Crasilneck, PhD and James A. Hall, MD state: "Hypnotherapy can often help in treating obesity, an observation that is one of the most clinically confirmed in all the literature on hypnosis."
This brings us to a very important point: Hypnosis is not meant to, nor could it ever, replace standard medical treatment.
In fact, hypnosis is most effective when used in conjunction with traditional health care. It is also important to note that most hypnotists are not licensed as medical practitioners.
Therefore, a hypnotist must always have a fully informed doctor's referral before helping anyone in any manner that is medically related.
What else can a hypnotist do for you as a diabetic? Well, you know that food management is crucial in diabetes. Visit any physical therapist that is helping a diabetic amputee to rehabilitate and you'll understand.
Many of those who have suffered amputations did so because of their out of control and indiscriminate eating habits. The results are horrifying. This is just one of the many devastating diabetes complications brought on by a destructive diet.
Can people with diabetes avoid this outcome without having to suffer a lifetime of denial?
Yes. Through the use of hypnosis, people can actually change their inner motivations thereby decreasing their desire for unhealthy food and unhealthy amounts of food.
At the same time, a hypnotist can help a person to increase their desire for better foods and to develop better eating habits.
How does this occur? The method is complex, but it can be described concisely. Hypnosis is your ability to convince yourself that something is true.
When you believe something, that belief is reflected in your thoughts, feelings and actions. So, once you use hypnosis to convince yourself that you prefer healthier foods and activities, then it becomes a habit to think and behave that way.
Think of hypnosis as a lever, a simple tool that can help people to remove blocks in their lives that were previously impossible to budge.
For each individual, the blocks are different. The mechanism by which hypnosis removes these blocks is that while in trance you have the ability to perceive things differently. When you see or think of something differently, its effect on you is changed.
Many people wonder if they have to do hypnosis on an ongoing basis. The answer is that it depends on the person and their situation.
Some people have been able to become nonsmokers after one session. For others, it takes a little while longer. Changing a belief is as personal and fickle as getting over a cold. But know this: it is absolutely proven that it can be done.
There are two reasons I am pioneering this approach to diabetes management. First, is that in 1992 I was going blind from diabetes but after using hypnosis, I regained 20/20 vision.
The second reason is that my mother has been devastated by diabetes and it is my passion to help so that another child does not have to watch their parent being taken apart piece by piece by diabetes.
Here's one way you can use the power of hypnosis right away. The next time you are faced with a difficult food choice, such as finishing off all the food on your plate even though you are not hungry, close your eyes and take five deep, belly breaths. With each breath you inhale, tell yourself that you feel very full.
With each breath you exhale, tell yourself that it is okay to not be a member of the clean plate club. Think about the fact that, whether or not you eat the food, it ultimately ends up as waste either in the restaurant trash can or in your toilet. By realizing this, you are releasing yourself from the harmful hypnotic command that you must eat everything on your plate. Practice this technique at least 10 to 15 times and you will notice a change.
How else can hypnosis help? Another area in which hypnosis can help the person with diabetes is exercise. The hypnotist's specialty is motivation. In fact, as defined by The National Guild of Hypnotists, a hypnotist is a stress-management consultant and a motivational coach.
Think of the benefits of being motivated to see exercise as something you want to do rather than something you have to do.
In conclusion, there is overwhelming medical evidence that hypnosis can help people with diabetes because it is a proven safe and powerful method of helping people to change.
Thank you for reading this article.

"Speak well to yourself because your deep mind is always listening."
I do enjoy reading all the stuff on this forum. The short answer to your question is yes diabetes is treatable with hypnosis as some of the people have stated. There are a great deal of studies out there that have shown successful treatments (for those that look for them) and yes, the person who is treating you had better know what they are doing.
The basis for diabetes can vary but like any disease, it's roots are primarily psychological. However, one of the things that makes this difficult to treat, is that there just may be some physical problems such as chromozome damage that allow diabetes to get a foothold. The reasons for this damage are unknown but since this disease affects over 14 million people, I would assume that it is something that we all take for granted not to hurt us. More research will be needed here.
As far as the treatment. It is better to treat diabetes as soon as you can. It is much easier to treat this in children than in older adults. If the patient agrees to be treated and really accepts the treatment, usually a type one diabetic can be reduced to a type II and a type II can get off their meds all together. The pancreas (if it has any output at all) can usually be rebuilt to run normally, however, the cells often reject their own natural insulin and this needs to be handled during the treatment as well. Results vary among patients and ages. Much of the success does depend on how much work the patient wants to do. Diabetes has often been linked to people who repress severe anger.
I won't go into all the techniques out there that work on diabetes, only to let you know that yes they do work, when used in the right hands. Hypnosis can help people with almost any medical or psychological condition. How successful they are usually has to do with the want of the patient (assuming the therapist is ausome). It is sad to say, but even though people have a disease, doesn't mean they really want to heal. This one thing affects hypnosis results more than anything else.
Treatment doesn't happen overnight. It often takes months for the body to convert to normalcy. It often takes years for people to develop this and yet they want it to disappear over night.....
There are hypnosis schools out there that teach advanced hypnosis. This is hypnosis for treating all types of psychological and medical conditions. Find these folks and you will have the training to do some truely awsome healing. As for yourself, you can loose the diabetes within you when you are ready.

I am a C.Ht. and learned that last June that my decades-old hypoglycemia had flipped into Insulin Resistance/Syndrome X/Metabolic Syndrome. I knew it could be reversed and I was determined to do it. I found a nutritional guidance/supplement program from which I learned a lot (www.realfoodnutrients.com), added other therapies as well as a couple of yoga poses to help the pancreas, and a tuning fork (Metaform brand) in the frequency for the pancreas. And, of course, I did self-hypnosis and visualized my return to the doctor's office where I saw the numbers being down to normal and amazing him.
Well, after about 6 weeks, I returned to the doctor's office. Just as I had visualized, my numbers were not only at normal, but had come down to solidly in the middle of the normal range! And as I had envisioned, he was head-scratching and wanted to know what I did, and even muttered that maybe the test was initially wrong! (He wasn't.)
The bonus was that my weight also melted off and I am now wearing a size I hadn't worn since I was in my early 20s! (From a 16 to an 8.) YES, hypnosis is helpful. It is not the complete program but it completes the program. One of my goals is to help others. Diabetes is a dreadful malady that can be helped, but one has to be open-minded and evaluate the choices.
You can get a phone hypnosis session as well as in person.....I also do phone hypnosis sessions for diabetes.
