Here are some of my thoughts that I have previously posted on that subject:
Menopause itself is an experience commonly fraught with negative impressions. (For example, your description that she is "undergoing" menopause makes it akin to some nasty procedure!) Bolstered by today's societal pressure to stay young, this stage of female life is often dreaded and viewed more as a disorder than a natural process. Perhaps this may explain many womens' anxiety about the menopausal years; anxiety which can accentuate the side effects of those hormonal changes.
You can help your client in several ways:
1. Reassure her that menopause is a natural and normal occurrence, in fact, it can represent the transition into a new and enlightened state of womanhood. Re-directing your client's focus from menopause being a negative and overpowering state to one of change in a positive way will make a big impact.
2. Many women fear that they will "lose" their feelings of sexuality through menopause. If appropriate, you can teach her that she is the one in control of her feelings*, that she can have total influence over her physical responses. Being able to stay in touch with one's sexual side enables one to experience life in a rich and sharing way...which equates to more joy!
3. Mood fluctuations and temperature variations can also be adjusted at will, once your client realizes her own power. Allow her to experience examples of this in your session so she can give herself relief when desired. A simple visualization of cool, running water over the wrists will help shorten and alleviate those hot flashes.
4. Healthy eating and exercise habits contribute greatly to the menopause experience. You can help her instill these in your sessions.
Mainly, remember that menopause is not a disease, nor a disorder. Women that make it to menopause can celebrate! No more feminine hygiene products, no more birth control! Yay!
*A process that I use to help female clients enhance their sexual responsiveness is to introduce them to their mental "control room". Once they have played around and discovered that they can effect changes in temperature in say, their hand, or increase their level of humor or other emotion, I let them practice changing their sexual responses.
The advantage in using this technique is that you can lead them to the water but they don't have to drink fully in your presence. They can discover their own power and then run with it later!
Best wishes,
Kelley

I would also suggest you check out Don Gibbon's site for details on his approach using hyperempiria to enhance such experiences! http://hyperempiria.com/
