In another forum, someone had written about Hypnosis and REM states.

I have been working on a theory on the connection between REM and Hypnotic depth for the past few years.

There are 6 stages of REM, the 1st 3 are related to eyelid flutter and the latter 3 are seen as eyeball movement, where the eyes are moving left and right and back again. As most here know, there are also 6 stages in the Arons Scale of Hypnotic Depth Testing.

From what I've viewed, the 1st 3 stages of REM are related to the 1st 3 stages of the Arons Scale, most generally, the latter 3 stages are related to the latter 3 stages of the Arons scale.

When I've had most I've worked with in the latter 3 stages of REM, I know I have had them into the deepest levels of Hypnosis and varied moments of somnambulism.

And from my observations, in those latter stages, in direct contact with the greatest depth levels of the subconscious mind.

Observationally, I am aiming for the latter stages of REM in sessions, demos including speed-trance demos, as well as the shows I host, for greater results via deeper and more direct access.

John,

Interesting concept. I personally have not had much use for the Arons scale because I perceive "depth" as more of a bandwidth function of trance reactions.

I feel that the Arons scale does correlate to how much of the body has gone dormant during hypnotic trance and that has value I guess, but just not to me.

Keep us posted if you will. I'm always interested in the direct research findings of others.

I do tend to agree with you, but as a way of gauging depth, the earlier stages of REM have to do with lighter levels of trance and the latter stages deeper levels, whereby, we are more or less in direct communication with the subconscios mind.

John, are you combining this with the insights from Human Givens?
No, just my own insights and thoughts.  But now you've given me something to research, thanks Graham.
