Hi guys!

Has anyone on Hypnothoughts used hypnosis to successfully treat drug addiction?  What experience have you had and what key points would you recommend?  I have a new client coming in who is addicted to pain killers ( roxi-oxy ) for the high.  He originally got on the meds following a car accident.  Any wise advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I have, but not in a therapeutic context.
First reframe the term addiction, to "the use of...."
Then use the "away from... and towards ....-motivation", to create wanton-desire!
Next implement the new behavior, by doing some intense visualization/perfect-self technique, and do a swich-pattern with this, to detach the clients past behavior, and install the new pattern.
and finish it off, with hypnotic pain-management, which will be needed during the detox-period.
(I suggest to implement a highly enjoyable trance, combined with the pain-management, to replace the high of the drugs)
Hey David-

I work on staff in three drug rehab centers. I know myself and a few others on here have seen some great results using hypnosis to work with people struggling with addiction.

I would recommend you search the archives of this site for some discussions.

I'd also like to emphasize the importance of making sure you are working with a doctor who can handle the detox process. When it comes to stuff like that, I always recommend people play it safe since it is a potentially lethal situation. Detoxing from the opiate you mentioned would most likely only be incredibly uncomfortable and not life threatening, but there are too many factors we can't assume to be bold with the well being of a person asking for help.

Good luck,
Scott
