What are some Hypnosis Schools out there besides the NGH?

The underlying cause for my question stems from the fact that in the state of Utah, there are no "schools" that have the ability to certify in Hypnosis. The organizations in the state of Utah, to my knowledge, only have the ability to "prepare you for the exam given by the NGH" so Why is this? I want to contact other certifying bodies and inquire what is the NGH telling the organizations in Utah... upon further investigation I have come to the conclusion that the organizations in Utah either have a FEAR to go on their own OR the State is too regulatory on Hypnosis in the state and no one has the ability to become it's own certifying body. I still have more investigating to do. It doesn't seem to difficult to start a school so throughout my investigating I may have found my Niche? and I am not picking on the Guild by any means... they are a fantastic organization, they have a lot to offer... just been confused by a few things, on the STATE level not the NGH.

It may be a couple of things.  Check out what the Utah laws are concerning hypnosis and the practice/ teaching of it.  If there are no laws, which there probably aren't because only a handful states have laws governing such things then it may be that no one wants to set anything up.  Remember there are organizations and there are schools.  The NGH seems to have people hold cert class around the country but the NGH is not the final word in hypnosis.  There are dozens of other organizations who provide certification through live trainings around the world.  They tend to not be focused in one geographic area but have trainers who travel to different places and hold training/ cert programs.

Now if you're interested in becoming a trainer- 2 things.  First get as much experience as you possibly can doing what it is you want to train others to do whether that's general hypnotherapy or some specialty area.  The other thing is you will either have to join up with another certifying organization and then start your school, or you will have to start your own organization and go from there.  Why not look at the organization that certified you and see if they have a training program you can take?  Then you can certify people through them.

Cheers!

You have very esoteric teachers and you have people with a solid grasp of NLP and Technical process.
(As if the two were mutually exclusive!)

As Scott pointed out, there are hypnosis schools (trainers or groups of trainers), and there are certifying bodies. There are some schools that are highly respected by myself and others, and there are certifying bodies that are more popular than others.

The two biggest organizations are the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA). It is good to be a member of one of these, as they have conventions and send out regular physical newsletters and so on. I think the Society of Experiential Trance (SET) has a lot of great trainers as well.

That said, there's a lot of politics around hypnosis certification, and so what you need to know is that there is no standardized requirement to become "certified," only a certain number of course hours and a curriculum to be certified by a particular organization. I think the strictest is still Gil Boyne's American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (ACHE).

If you're interested in a school, the advice I'd give is to look around for who is the best in the business, and get out to their training. Only train with those who are up to the expert level.
