Hello all,

I became interested in hypnosis via NLP via magic and mentalism. This is still a big part of my interest, but I've noticed that most people who I tell I do hypnosis too are more anxious for me to "fix their problems" than they are to have their foot stick to their forehead. Weird huh?

Anyway, I've always been the guy everyone comes to talk to about their problems, and I do enjoy helping people when I can, so I am now seriously considering getting certified in hypnotherapy.

Some questions:

What kinds of things should a hypnotherapy course cover?

What is your recommended minimum days/hours of training before starting to work with clients?

General suggestions of what to look for and to look out for?

If you're going to reccommend a course, I'm looking for:

1. Intensive training
2. To start in Feb or March at the latest.
3. Must be located in or within commuting distance of central London

Looking forward to your feedback!

Good Afternoon Moses,

Here in the UK there are quite a few training companies who offer a range of levels of training but do tend to charge for a lot of waffle or certification that to be honest most of your clients will not really bother about.
I feel that it comes down to whether you can alleviate their challenge in an ethical and prompt manner.

I will send you a private message as advertising services etc is frowned upon here and I do have a direct suggestion with regards to learning everything you need to know about hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP.

I am looking forward to seeing what other people post in response to this.

Very nice meeting you at the Speedtrance Seminar in Manchester last weekend - does not feel like a week has past.

Have a great weekend.
Regards
Robert.

P.S If anyone else would like to know more about the ultimate home study course on this subject feel free to drop me an email. Thanks RD
Moses:
I believe that a solid hypnotherapy course should include age regression techniques. I also believe that a good course will teach rapid induction techniques so that you can hypnotize analytical clients. No matter what course you take, working with clients will teach you more than anything. How should you find a really good teacher? Find hypnotists
you respect and ask them who trained them. Best Wishes,

Moses,
I learned from Gerrald Kien with Omni Hypnosis Center. You can go to their website and he has a FAQ section that explains what to look for in training. This may help you in your search. You do not have to train from him but this is good info. http://www.omnihypnosis.com/faqs.htm

I also learned additional skills from Cal Banyan at Banyan Hypnosis.

I also agree with Sean, a regression technique in my opinion is the most effective for me so I think very important.

Conrad,
The reason I directed Moses to Kien's site is that he has a great FAQ section where he comments on what to look for when you want to find a reputable training facility. In his FAQ section he has a list of what to look for whether it is his training or whether you choose another. Good information.

This is great feedback.

I'm sure I need a live course so I get the real world practice. I'm happily drowning in material as it is. Though I suppose I could get the info on how to run a professional clinic from books and DVD's.

Glad to hear multiple comments on age regression. I saw that done incredibly powerfully by Elvis Lester one evening after a Bandler NLP course. It was extremely dramatic and I would definitely want some training before exploring that.

It seems like most of the good trainers are in the US. Maybe I'll have to fly back home for a course...which may not be much more money. Though it looks like I just missed Kein's training...

I've seen some Mark Cunningham stuff before..he seems highly skilled. Has anyone noticed his upcoming course. :-O

Keep the tips coming!

Thank you.
Have a look at HMI too
I took my NLP Practitioner, in the States. The Dollar is not as weak as it was, but it can make the training more affordable.
