Hey eric-

 

I pulled it down and am rebuilding something better.  It was killing peoples page load times and wasn't being utilized that much.  I'm hoping to provide an improved version soon.

 

The one we have been using was very slow, buggy, and just plain bad.  It was Ning's native chatroom (ning is the name of this software platform) and I had been hoping they would upgrade it by now, like they've been promising.

 

This is one of my summer projects as a part of the 4 year anniversary of this site and some fun upgrades and new features hopefully coming to this site.

My pleasure!  You're right - the chat platform was pretty buggy, but I still like the concept of having a chat function, and I used the platform we had in spite of the bugs.

 

Can't wait to see what the new developments are!  :-)

In the meantime, maybe a good feature to add would be if people use Yahoo or AIM, they could put their Yahoo or AIM ID up on their profile.  What do we think?  :-)

the temporary solution most people have been using (that have been using one at all) has been skype, since that's already an option in your profile.
