the Free Hypnosis Social Network
Hi Walt, et al,
Generally I don't use them, although recently, there have been nights I've gone to sleep with Doreen's download - The musicality/sound of her voice improves my mood... Hey Walt -- You question reminded me of a recent item I read about "Sleep-Talk" here you go:
Cheryl -- The are cool pillows that have speakers inside them -- much more relaxing than wearing headphones in my opinion...
Funny, most hypnos are aware that their clients are playing their CD's before going to sleep -- I am surprised by how few give their listeners the option of counting themselves up or down depending on if they are waking up to a fun filled day or moving into a great night's sleep....
I think you can figure this out for yourself by answering the following questions. If your client falls asleep in your recliner, can you continue your session and will he/she respond to your suggestions? Of course not!
If you fall asleep in front of the television, do the suggestions made by the advertisers on late night infomercials
penetrate your subconscious and result in your making any purchases. Of course not!
When you are asleep you are asleep and you are focused on your dreams and have shut out reality. The Human Givens Project (UK) has a good book called "Dreaming Reality" that goes into depth about sleep and what physiological/mental processes are in play. It's worth ordering and reading. Any similar book will show that listening to anything while asleep has nil effect.
Additionally, many studies and many books discuss the failure of sleep learning for the above reasons. There are many hypnotists around because hypnosis works and brain scans show it has an effect. There are few sleep learning products out there because they just do not work. The placebo effect may make it seem they work if the client really wants to believe sleep learning works but any test of what was learned will fail miserably in a controlled test.
Hypnosis is focused concentration. Sleep is not. Its apples and oranges.
Hypnosis isn't magic and it cannot penetrate a sleeping body!. Reiki and other energy healing methods are all nonsense - I can make a laser and knock a missile down with its light energy (it was done recently) - What energy comes out of you hands? Thermal? Electrical? Radio Frequency? Light? What frequency? What temperature? What energy? It's placebo effect and hypnosis. "You will feel warm in that area as my hands pass over it"
