Hello everyone,

I've practiced hypnosis on myself and friends and family off and on but now I want to take the plunge and make a career of it. I don't have much experience and I was hoping that some of you could help point me in the right direction on where to get started... I'm a little overwhelmed at this point. I see that there are a lot of live and online certification courses available. And that's part of the problem for me. I don't know what to choose. I just want to follow a program where after it's completed I will be an effective hypnotist and help people actually achieve their goals. I'm willing to be just good enough and become great through practice and experience. From the look of my finances I may have to start with an online option but once I get started I would definitely like to get some hands on live training. So are they any online programs that any of you would recommend?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Thanks Dave,

Not sure how much you stuck to the point of the thread.
Seemed a bit more like an plug for yourself,
shonkey business deals,
Derren Brown,

and eventually your dvds.

Can't help wondering what exactly you are a doctor of?

LOve and hugs,

Fable
Hi Brian,
Noticed that you were from Texas. We have a group called Texas Trancemakers you may want to join. Depending on where you are, There are a few active practise groups that might get you some live hands on training , I do one here in dallas occasionally and Austin has a fun group and Wendy is starting one up in the houston area. So feel free to join in. There are a bunch of other threads on Hypnosis education and you may want to read those to sort out who's who and what's what.

Brian,

If you must start with an online course check out www.gilboyneonline.com I show many of Gil's videos to my students and we all learn something every time. Myself included. As others have mentioned the learning never ends.

Perhaps in addition to starting with an online course you can find someone local who can be a mentor for you. You really do need someone to observe your sessions and give you feedback. I see it in my classroom often. They need to hear about it, see it and then do it themselves.

Craig Eubanks also gave you some great ideas. As I tell my students you can be the best hypnotherapist out there but you'd better also know how to run a business.

Good luck and study, study, study!

Katherine
Fable,

I Will send Brian the DVD's (NOT Mine) FREE.... Various Hypno and NLP Training !!!
The Derren Brown mention was because HE has a show tonight on Hypnosis (UK); but someone might YouTube it !!! I was NOT trying to "Plug" myself..... I was being sincere. Sorry that you viewed it that way..... And the DVD Training offer still stands 4 Brian!!! FREE

Thanks for your response Dave.

I have misssed Derren's Latest series on the telly,
and am glad after his sham show on predicting the lottery numbers.

I understand it got more vievers than the lottery draw itself,
but most of those viewers saw through the trick,
and I think he has lost even more credibility,
by his phoney explanation.
Still it is just entertainment, for the masses:

"iam pridem,
ex quo suffragia nulli uendimus,
effudit curas;
nam qui dabat olim imperium,
fasces, legiones, omnia,
nunc se continet atque duas tantum res anxius optat,
panem et circenses."
(Juvenal)

"Already long ago,
from when we sold our vote to no man,
the People have abdicated our duties;
for the People who once upon a time handed out military command,
high civil office, legions —
everything, now restrains itself
and anxiously hopes for just two things:
bread and circuses"

Have a great day,
Hope to chat with you at the Summit tommorow

Love and hugs,

Fable
