Wow, Mark! That is awfully nice of you to say. Blush. I am currently on my way to the NGH convention in Marlborough, Mass and would not have seen your post except my wonderful wife agreed to drive so I could catch up on emails and such. There are a LOT of fast hypnotists out there, yourself included. I saw your videos. I'm not going to mention any names because I wouldn't want to leave anyone out. But you know who you are. There comes a point where you really can't get any faster without risking an injury. I won't cross that line. Most of the other folks won't either, which is a good thing. Anyone can learn to do these inductions and become one of the fastest hypnotists in the world, But I am THE world's fastest hypnotist because...
I own the website. :-)

I have personally met six world's fastest hypnotists and have seen a number of folks out there who claim the title. While I tell folks I am a speed hypnosis expert, I don't claim to be the fastest but I am THE WORLD'S HANDSOMEST HYPNOTIST (tm). Sean owns the webpage and he understands marketing. There are a couple folks who claim the title who are not so honest and who are rather pushy and denigrating toward others. There is no way to truly determine "fastest" as one man's fast is another man's slow boat to Asia. I recently had a comment on one of my youtube videos (one of the "stare inductions") which said that I was too slow and that another guy was obviously so much faster . . . the induction was fifteen seconds with a person in for a first-ever session and I never even posted it was my fastest, just a demonstration of a technique . . . when I looked at the other guy's video, it appeared that it was less than one second but he had seven minutes of interview first and was working with a professional hypnotist who he had hypnotized repeatedly before . . . so which induction was truly faster? The measures tend to get fuzzy.

In all honesty, and this is coming from someone who teaches speed hypnosis - why, I'll be seeing Sean in just one short week on the beach in sunny California - it isn't being the FASTEST that matters so much, it's using the most appropriate induction with that person at that time in the most effective way. Fast inductions are great and they do tend to shift people into highly responsive patterns very effectively. However, in terms of what you do with 'em after the induction, it really isn't whether or not you've a speed record under your belt that matters but whether or not you've guided the person effectively and comfortably into a trance place where they can have a meaningful experience.

Of course, as hypnotists, playing with speed can be fun . . . without the stop watches . . . but our trance partner's couldn't care less whether you took five minutes, fifteen seconds, five seconds, two point three seconds or less than one second to get 'em where they need to be in a way that maximizes the experience itself.

Oh, yes, Sean is fast . . . and so am I . . . and so are all the other folks who have become specialists in this sort of induction pattern . . . but . . . I seriously doubt that a meaningful conclusion could ever be made regarding who's the "fastest" . . . as the variables really are too high.

It ain't the speed, but the getting there that matters.

In my opinion.

All the best,
Brian

I am pretty fast myself I am told. So far from an ice cold start, I was first clocked once sometime back at 6/10 of a second, and later, 4/10 of a second, and lastly, about 9 or 10 months ago, 3/10 of a second ice cold walking up to a stranger in an audience, before or after a show.
Many of the people who took these times were fellow students with digital wrist watches, as I ice cold dropped a friend, shoulders to knees, and was able to bend down and observe a REM state, indicating trance depth.
I personally don't count re-inductions, really never needed to.
In fact, I was just out at a comedy club actually doing split second Speed-Trance Inductions and Street Hypnosis.
I may have some video of some of it, the parking lot wasn't lit well.

I've been clocked at .000001 seconds doing self-hypnosis so I'm giving you all notice that I'm the fastest now :)
Sorry Taylor you are only in the 2:nd place. My time is 0. I´m always in trance :-)

Warm Regards to all.
Here's some cool trivia that I have shared before. My hypno-hero Dave Elman was billed in 1915 as "The World's Youngest and Fastest Hypnotist." Nothing new under the sun!

One more spot of trivia. I found a reference recently to what I believe to be the first instant induction in history. Any guesses?

I'm looking forward to Redondo, Brian. Last year was great fun and I'm sure this year will be even better. See you then!

I'm going to go with Mesmer bringing on ecstatic spasms with a touch of his hand . . . although I suppose some folks might go to prehistoric shamanic touchwork but that might not qualify for "in history,"

But . . . I might be being a smart*ss.

Was it in the garden of Eden perhaps, when Adam looked into eves eyes, and from there on did whatever she asked.

Or was it Circe, putting Odyseus's crew under her spell.

I guess history and other myths, is full of potential examples.

What did you have in mind Sean?

Love and hugs,

Fable
That may be in the 1840's when James Braid recounted about a French Hypnotist that could put people into trance by just yelling "Domez" (the French word for Sleep) at them.
