Irritating Quote of the Century... Or Millennium?!

'[Hypnosis] can be used for the reduction of both emotional pain and distress, and physical pain. Hence the usefulness of hypnosis in both medicine and dentistry and the inherent dangers of hypnosis used by non-professionals.'

Other than the grammar, how many more reasons are there to be annoyed by this comment in an HT training manual?!

If you get paid to do something you are professional. Or do you mean something else Ian.

But perhaps some are more professional than others? ;-)

Organ transplant communicators and the paranormal? What profession is that?

What is the issue? Last time I looked, we are all professionals.
Oh I see HypnoTherapy. Forgive my ignorance.

If hypnosis is used to treat physical symptoms by someone with no access too or training in physiological diagnosis then of course it is dangerous. Hence the dislike of hypnosis used in this way by people so trained considering there are hypnotherapists out there who have trained on home study courses and reading scripts out there.

Actually the vast majority are such.

Whats HT?
The dangers of having your teeth or appendix taken out by non professionals, despite the usefulness of hypnosis to reduce the pain.

The people who wrote the course are drs who think that HT is only safe in the hands of drs...

Whose website patter? ;-)

Whether Stage Hypnosis, street hypnosis, covert and conversational hypnosis or Clinical hypnotherapy, the fact is the art of actually getting hypnosis and applying it is very easy. In fact so easy most people can learn to hypnotise in a couple of hours - and I'm saying that because you won't believe the 20 minutes it will actually take. Jonathan Chase said:
