I've stumbled upon the beginning of a metaphor which may end up having a profound impact on my perspective, in the way I frame my current situation in life. It begins with the concept of solvency (if I have the word right)...solution and dissolution. Can someone help me finish it?

When water and salt combine, they create a solution. However, if the water evaporates the salt remains. It's form is altered, but it remains. My question is: How can the salt be made useful again?

Any insight would be appreciated!

Hello Jackie : I was reading this metaphor that you have put up here, and I felt obligated to respond with another , and I trust that it may be of some use to you or someone else. So here it is ... I
*** " THE SOLUTION TO POLLUTION, IS DILUTION. " I hope that this can be looked as a healthy reframe to benefit your concept to find solvency .

Thank you, Paul! This is very moving.

Water attracts salt too, a saline drip helps doctors preserve life. Salt helps fishermen preserve fishmeat. Salt and water corrode steel and aliminium - Man made. Nature?

To add more to the experiment:

Salt in water is corrosive and salt also attracts water.

Hi Jackie,

I know this blog is from the past, I have just seen it for the first time and was compelled to add a comment. I don't know if you came up with a metaphor or not, but the creative part of me that is grooming me for future greatness had something to say.

Everyone knows about water, necessary for life.

And salt, preserves, and also regulates hydration that sustains life.

Both of value.

When salt and water are combined, still of value, hospitals maintain life around the world with that solution.

Whether apart or together, no matter which combination you are talking about, you have a solution.

Even when water starts to evaporate from saltwater, not only is the result of the transformation essential to life, we also get a benefit from the transformation itself.

As water vaporizes it can become a fog.

When the mind is foggy we automatically start looking for clarity.

The process itself conjures up our learned talents for problem solving. When something is unclear we seek a solution, and as we start to uncover the solution, the fog lifts and clarity arises.

In the body, the salt creates that wonderful balance that is essential for life.

The salt can be seen as a natural balancing force for those in a fog as it also helps to see life more clearly. And perhaps it is the fog of life that prepares us for helping others while preserving positivity.

There is no loss of value when things are in perspective, so when things appear to be out of perspective and a bit foggy, remember the value of all.

Such wonderful extensions of the metaphor, Jackie.  You are indeed the salt of the earth.  You may think that you need to be ex-salted, but I say, the right word is exalted!  Just like the salt rimming the Margarita, you add spice and life to the drink.  And just remember, each and every one of us loses salt every day, so we need you.  You are worth your salt.
When one cry's it is a combination of water and salt.  Crying offers a solution to one's emotional problems as it does offer a healing of the soul.  When the crying stops, the emotional issue still remains, but one looks upon it with fresh and healing eyes.  How it can be made useful again is how you will learn to live a fulfilling, meaningful life regardless of the loss.

wow.  I did not see the date on this.
