Hello everyone!

Ive came across 'The secret' a.k.a The law of attraction yesterday and it made me think. Is 'The secret' real or is it just a scam or maybe some people are having a laugh? It seems true. All those people talking about it make sense. Theres lots of them talking about it. Have you had any experience with 'The secret'?

I will apreciate any answer.

Cheers

Maciej

The Law of attraction is a concept, a metaphysical principle. If you came accross it as in "Buy my LOA product and you will be 100 times richer" or worse yet (as the TV evangelists have preached) "Donate 100 dollars to me and you will get a 100 fold return, expect 10000 dollars to show up when you most need it" then you have encountered a scam.

If you have encountered the principle of LOA as in "like attracts like" and someone has proposed teaching you how to be a loving person, because loving people attract love; they are probably on target. It is true that what we put out is what we get. Negative people attract negativity, or at least only notice this and let the wonderful things in life pass them by. I also think that people have taught many false things calling it the LOA.

At it's heart though, the LOA is quite valid. As a metaphysical teaching, it is quite powerful. Unforunately it is often exploited by the same people that brought you multi-level marketing.
Yes, also called I believe "black ops" it is a scam to attract the gullible, but that is my opinion based on what friends have told me, I have no first hand experience of it..
I came across a site called www.thesecret.tv. Its quite good few samples good to check out for free stuff at times
The website is for a movie called "The Secret" it is an educational doumentary, with a storyline that is rather entertaining. In this movie most of the teachers have products to sell. That being said, some of them teach some very good information, and others in my opinion teach some crappy information. It is a commercial enterprise based on a metaphysical principle. There is nothing wrong with that, and I would recommend watching it. However, realize it that those behind this movie have much to sell you. It is a little like pharmacy companies sponoring physicain educational programs. Nothing wrong with that, but recognize where the biases will be.

Most of "the secret" was first written about in the ealy 1900's by a guy named Charles Haanel. It is essentially a comercialization of his work. He wrote a book called, "The Master Key System" and it is a fantast book. If your ever on a long drive, listen to it in in audio format, you can get it from any bookstore. A copy of the book will cost you about $12 on Amazon. I will try to upload a pdf of the book (it is in the public domain) to this discussion. Then you can study the subject from the horses mouth, rather than a commercial representation.
Here is a PDF of "The Master Key System" is attached as a download. Enjoy. Master the answers to the questions in this text, and you will know far more than what is taught in the Secret....

Thank you very much Richard. Youre very very helpful! Thank you again
The great thing about LOA is....if you believe in it, it's real.

It goes along with those sayings:
"what the thinker thinks, the prover proves"
or
"you get what you focus on"

Both sayings completely different from one another and yet... fundamentally true.

I've downloaded the .pdf, thanks Richard!
I'll have a look into those books when I can. Thank you for replying to this I wasnt expecting to get so many replys in just few hours
Adrian is correct, much of the material also came from "Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World" by William Walker Atkinson

I have attached a pdf of this also.....

"you get what you focus on"

Which, of course, is nonsense.
I believe it also capitalizes in on the Hindu/Buddism concept of "Karma". This is the real secret...
