Good Day.

I have been studying Hypnosis for a while now using many online resources. I completely understand the process, the theory on how it works with the brain and the various techniques one can use. I have had fantastic success with volunteers willing to be my practice subjects. I am therefore thinking about getting certified as a Hypnotist and hopefully starting my own practice at some stage.

My problem is that I am located on South Africa and there are not many Hypnosis Schools here and those that are are too far away for me to travel to.

My question is: is there an institution/school in which one can apply for certification (and do an exam I would expect) that could provide me with a valid Hypnosis Certificate?

Thank you for any future responses.

hypnosis motivation institute.....http://www.hypnosis.edu/hmi/
As for a "valid" hypnosis certificate, anyone can call themselves a hypnotist. People have different views on accredited vs. non-accredited schools. I just believe in a thorough education. It sounds like you've already taken steps in the right direction so you're probably aware of avoiding "weekend hypnosis certifications". As well as advice here, search online and see what everyone has to offer. If it sounds too easy and good to be true, it probably is. As with any other profession, I'd think you'd want to have as much quality training as possible. Definitely check out HMI (it offers a free month-long introduction course that, in my opinion, is packed with information and should definitely be taken) and good luck in your search!
Thank you for all the quick responses with good resources.

@Carol: Checking it out now. Thanks.

@ Jay: Thank you for the info. I will contact her this very moment. :)

@ Josh: Yea, I have seen these "Become a Certified Hypnotist in 4 Hours" type things but how much weight does that "Certification" actually hold. An internationally recognized Certificate is whats needed if at least to assure those clients who are skeptical about ones abilities and suggestions.

ICBCH Offers a complete basic hypnosis certification class entirely online

http://www.hypnotherapyboard.org/online-hypnosis-class.php

And can be competed in South Africa. We also send our home study basic and advanced classes to every place in the world. We have found though the Postal System in South Africa to be less than reliable so there is a surcharge to use FedEx in South Africa. But our courses are among the best quality and lowest price on the market, so this is a non-issue for most.
Have you checked out Stephen Brooks' online course?

http://british-hypnosis-research.com/

It's one of the best, from one of the best.
I second Graham's suggestion. Stephen Brooks' online course is one of the best. It's a year long program that involves reading, videos, live chats, forums, and exams. Since you already have the basics down, this is an excellent next step in your hypnosis career. Brooks' is one of the best out there and is definitely someone to learn from.

Plus....It's free. Can't beat that :D
Hi Braden,

If you are looking for distance training we offer a 285 hour distance learning Basic Counseling Hypnotherapy certification course. It is not an easy course and takes 8 months to complete. To learn more go to www.orcainstitute.com.
Braden,

All certs are worth the same when it comes to official recognition (at least in the US).

You and I could start the international hypnotists association and give out fancy certs saying were all trained CCHHTT's.

I tell my clients that fact and it has never seemed to bother any of them. If you have the skills, go and do the work. Don't pay some dude lots of money so he can print you a fancy cert. You can do that on your very own home pc.

Joe
Thank you for all your input. It has been most helpful and I believe I have the the information I need to achieve my goals.
Take a look at http://www.omnihypnosis.org/
The classes are taught by Gerlad F. Kein
He holds in person classes and tapes with a ceritifcation. Many many hours of class.
There are many references to him on line
Braden, here is one more option (local to you) that needs to be considered: http://www.ngh.net/Countries/SouthAfrica.html
