Looking for recommendations on sports hypnosis training

Hi everybody,

I am looking for sports hypnosis training. I am currently certified, and now I am looking to specialize in athletes. I've worked with some already and have been quite successful, however I am hungry for more knowledge and skills.

Would any of you receommend particular books, DVD's, online training, live training, etc?

Thanks everybody!

Lynne

Actually I don't see any training recommendations on the links you provided - maybe I'm missing something? Thanks :)

YOu may well be right,

Just thought it would be a good place to start, and pick up lots of good hints from some great therapists.

No doubt some one else will chip in with more specicic suggestions for trainings.

Love and hugs,

Lynne:

I work with a few professional, a number of Olympic and many college athletes.

My only formal sports hypnosis training was a weekend short course with Don Mottin. I would be surprised if Don Mottin didn’t sell a distance-learning version of this course on his web site. I am sure that sport hypnosis courses abound online.

I believe as a Hypnotist you already have all the basic tools to work with Sports.

My suggestion to you would be to read the books:

FLOW by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi  (ISBN-0-06-016253-8)

I believe is one of the books that help build a foundational understanding of what being in the “Zone” means.

                                     AND

Winning the Mind Game (using hypnosis in sports psychology) by John H. Edgtte (ISBN 1904424023)

I hope my suggestions are helpful in getting you headed in the right direction.

If you can find an NLP practitioner or trainer that will teach you what's called the "T.O.T.E." model, it is hands down the most valuable tool I use for Sports Enhancement. It's far from the only one, but it is the most valuable. Just make sure they really understand it well- there are unfortunately even many trainers that don't teach it well. And it's not something you'll grasp from online or dvd training. It's one that takes a lot to really wrap your mind around at first- but well worth it.

Also, a must have book is called "Golf- The Mind Game". Although it's aimed towards golf, there are countless jewels in there that you can use for any kind of Sports Enhancement. Read it and practice everything in it (on yourself) at least 3 times. Once you've really experienced the exercises for yourself- you'll be able to help others with it.

Best,

-Kevin
